one of the best MCs, if not the best MC, i have ever played in an otome game! super good writing, art is gorgeous, fully voiced & the OST is also beautiful. not to mention the fantastic plot. highly recommend!!

Short answer: I love this game and recommend it to all who like a well written story Long answer: The game is a historical chinese fantasy game and it has tons of lore so it was fun to read through it all. It doesn't have lots of choices or overly romantic encounters, but the way you get to know the people is really entertaining. I like that the story isn't shallow and the artwork is also amazing. Voice acting is good, but I preferred to play without. I did have some issues to get all the achievements (Back to the past - had to switch to chinese to unlock). Overall, I think YiGuang is my favorite route, but I don't want to spoil it.

i just got my first ending and i thought it was cute! i did not intend to end up with the person i did, but nonetheless it was a satisfying ending for me. it's so easy to make a mistake with the choices, so i guess i messed up somewhere with my choice of partner, but i did really like the story of the person i got so i didn't mind at all. i saw a lot of negative reviews about the story revolving around the war more so than the romance, and honestly i was so invested that i didn't even mind. i enjoyed the story, and thought it was a really great otome, esp for the price. excited for my second play-through :)

A visual novel game that focuses on the elements of power struggles and family revenge more than love, there are quite a lot of fighting scenes so sometimes it causes a feeling of tension. Another point is that the names of the Chinese characters are quite difficult to remember. The female lead is not a weakling, can attack enemies, command, and lead the country like a man. Throughout the game, the female lead does not cry too much but is always strong and finds ways to solve problems. The male characters are all voiced so they are quite vivid. The visuals are beautiful, but quite economical. Many scenes are described with words instead of pictures so it is difficult to imagine, especially the battle scenes. There are not too many emotional scenes and emotional leads because most of the male characters are destined to meet the female lead, be impressed and fall in love with the female lead over a long time in the past. In the present tense scenes, the male characters have already fallen in love with the female lead. Overall, the game is quite meaningful when it comes to war and people in war, the struggle for power and grudges between clans, the love element is just an additional element and a reward for the female lead's resilient sacrifice.
