Despite my recommendation I have some criticisms. 1) The game is too easy. I haven't lost a single fight since I started playing and I've already beaten the third King. The fact that your units always have initiative over the enemy makes everything very predictable and easy. The only somewhat challenging fights are the caravan miniboss (harder than anything else in the game sadly) and the first 5-10 fights in the run when you don't yet have any decent units. But once you get even a single Wizard or Berserker, it becomes very hard to lose. 2) The fights become repetitive relatively quickly. Once you have 1 or 2 good units you can use those pretty much until the end of the map. There is a lot of unit variety, but it almost doesn't matter because the game is so easy, so you never have to experiment. 3) The sound design is not good. The overworld music is somewhat cute, but the "music" during the fights, even the boss fights, is just really boring. Despite all this I am having an enjoyable time with the game and for the low price it's really quite good.

For it's cost, this is worth it. It's got a great atmosphere, really good style, and unique gameplay. However, it could easily be so much more. The gameplay system is so interesting and fresh, but it's held back by lack of progression. The standard experience I want in a deckbuilder is to start with boring, mediocre cards that teach me the mechanics of the game, then quickly upgrade them to more interesting, unique units to build a strategy around. In both my runs (which totalled about 3 hours), I used basically the exact units I started with the entire time. I see that there are more units in the game, but they're hidden behind hours of grinding. If there were 3x as many units to start with (and keep others behind progression grinding), I'd be playing this for days, maybe weeks. But as it is, I feel you get the entire experience after about 3-5 hours. Effectively what I'm saying is that this is very worth it for $5, but could easily be worth 15$ with just a bit more. I'll keep an eye out for updates.

This is too cheap for the replay ability and mind numbly addictive fun. Pros: + Evil mage game play, yay + Summoning stuff + Surprising variety in functional builds + Roguelike progression (not much but its there) + Option to grind and snowball before the boss + Well executed turn base into real time illusion, good solution to games being boring due to end turn fatigue Cons: - Right stuff goes here... - Consumables handle a bit poorly by diluting the deck. But their deployment in the deck is optional so hard to complain - Can always be more content? please, I'll pay you for DLC just just build on this more maps/minion upgrades etc. Over all I'm enjoying this, so far nothing negative in terms of lame boss mechanics, except the caravan but its optional (read ignore that thing). I have found a bug that causes the enemy not to spawn a wave forcing the game to restart.

I've only played it for a bit, but this game seems very well made. For the price, I would consider it an easy purchase. The mechanics are unique, the cards have pretty cool abilities, and the art style is amazing. There are a lot of Q.O.L. features that proves the developers know what they're doing. (Speed-up button, the ability to cancel movement, intuitive controls, detailed settings menu, balanced shop mechanics, etc.) If anything, the game is a tad too easy (At least the first stage). A single Vampire can easily clear most combats from the early to late game. Also, I didn't really experience much variety in my deck throughout my first run (Likely due to the unlock system). Finally, as a suggestion, I'd recommend making the Soul & Mana resources into bars above the player's hand, instead of numbers in the top of the screen. It would make it easier to gauge resources. Overall, I think this game would be a great purchase. There's obviously a lot of time and care that went into the game, and it shows.

It's always so nice when developers listen to feedback from playtest and Steam Next Fest! Great game for a very small price!!!
