Necroking is a simple card based autobattler rogue-lite. On a run you go around a grid based map collecting cards and powerups, and then fight various enemies in an autobattle setup, where your cards summon minions and they automatically advance and fight every turn. Overall, the game is a bit too simple and probably won't keep your interest for that long. Minions have 1 stat which acts as their health and combat power and they just advance one space at a time on a 4 space board. Some minions have an effect like only being able to defend, or not counter attacking when hit. There is a foundation here to do some interesting things, but honestly, on the base difficulty I beat the game by just spamming riders. Its also a bit of a missed oppertunity that most effect cards that do things like move a unit forward, are one time use so you end up not being able to rely on them for a strategy. The highest difficulty makes even minions one time use, which makes the game quite unfun to me and makes it even less of a deck builder. Combine this with the fact that moving around the grid feels almost like a separate game, and you have kind of a disjointed experience that has deckbuilding elements and grid movement elements, but kneecaps them. I would have preferred a bit of a streamlined board with fewer empty spaces, more utility cards, and less reliance on consumable cards. But despite these complaints, for the cost it is a fine game. I got it on sale for less than $2, and it was fun to figure out and I did bother to beat the final boss. Its fine. You can do worse, just don't expect anything ground breaking.
The Necromancer and the king This game was a unique experience to me. The art style reminded me of loop hero -which was one of the primary reasons i bought it. As for the game mechanics and they are pretty simple and straightforward. The map is a vast chessboard-like grid where you come across villages, cities, cemeteries, enemy commanders etc. You build your deck with units and consumables that require mana and/or souls to cast. As you progress your deck becomes stronger -adding more powerful units and better spells. If you are strong enough you beat the final boss -the king- and the next stage awaits. I think there's a lot of potential here but its seems devs gave up on the project. Pity. I bought this dirt-cheap (1.24 Euros) definitely worth your time if turn-based deck-builders are your thing
I recommend the game at its price point. It can get a little repetitive quickly. The main gameplay loop is enjoyable. I played through on the recommended difficulty and got away with having it on 2x speed. I would recommend doing one difficulty above for a more engaging experience. I beat the first playthrough in 5 hours. Probably can complete it faster. I don't know if I missed it, but it'd be interesting fighting the AI with the same resources, and restrictions as you.
