I finished the game in 4 hours and had a great time! Excellent value at its standard price, its a no brainer on sale. No issues on Steam Deck

Its a fun game to kill time, the pixel art is gorgeous. Unfortunately there's no much variety, it lacks that thing that makes you wanna go the extra mile, once I finished my first run, didn't find a reason to go a second time. Its really cheap, just give it a try!

I loved my time with Necroking. I was immediately drawn in by the charming art style and it only gets better as you play and encounter more units/monsters. The individual sprite animations have so much life and quirkiness. For example: the sprites move across the board at different speeds depending on the unit type, so mounted skeletons advance to the next area a little faster than the walking skeletons. It shows so much love an care in it's small details that I just adored. I also loved the tailored sound design of the units. Other reviewers complain that the game is slow and repetitive. I can see how they had that experience but I think that's part of the genre with turn-based combat encounters and the loop-style game set up. The game was actually shorter than I expected because some reviews made it out to be endless story acts (I think it's 5 acts? I will say they are repetitive with content but with a new mini boss and enemy types added each time). If you replayed through every difficulty (I did not) you would definitely get bored. But I played through the game completely twice, not rushing, and had fun both times, then just grinded out the last couple tricky achievements. I had fun but if you're still on the fence, on sale the game is a steal. It can be repetitive but it has a gorgeous art style, so much charm and isn't really all that long of a game. I feel like it hit a sweet spot but do see how others could not have as fun of an experience. I would still heartily recommend giving the game a go.

Really hovering on that 'maybe' recommend, but the aesthetic and low price point tip it into a yes. You get to summon cute pixel-art skeletons and build a deck out of them, and the game was pretty solid and bug-free. My biggest issue is that every level 'resets' your deck. This is clearly for balance purposes but it makes every level into the same loop - grind the weak tiles, max out your starting mana, then play your entire deck on the first turn and win.

Not sure why people are giving this a bad review. I see people with three hours giving it a thumbs down and saying they beat the game and that it's boring... They're idiots. Eleven hours in and I feel like I haven't seen about half the game yet. It's a strategy game that, honestly, rewards patience too much. If you are patient and don't do anything foolish, it's a good game. Just like any other good game, it can be challenging or quite easy depending on how you play. It definitely needs some work, but overall I'd say it is a good game.
