It's easy to make a management/simulation game with military units, resource units or buildings, but to make it with an abstract concept like managing a newspaper requires a certain genius and they totally pulled it off. The gameplay is engaging, the choices are meaningful, there are always multiple factors to consider, progression is perfect, upgrades are fun, balance is almost perfect. Feedback List: * A good story should be better than simple advertisement, to get a story to 1000$ you need 1 gold (400), 1 silver (200), 3 bronze (300) and 3 quality stars (120) or a combo. There is no way to beat a 1500, 2000, 2500, or 3000 advertisement. Therefore you basically always should put advertisements in the multiplier slots, which does not feel good. I should have to carefully think if a story or ad is better. If I have an awesome story, I should be benefitting from putting it as a headliner. * Editors should have more to do * Prestige also should have a chance to add a quality star. If it is just speed, I can also get speed by hiring more people. * Quality stars should be able to go to 6 * Reporters on photography desk should still be able to use their 2 other reporter skills * You should not be able to keep news from getting old by deliberately slowing them down to not finish before Sunday -> news should get old based on creation date, not finishing date * 1 pixel of comfort is as good as 100 comfort, this should not be the case -> 1 pixel comfort should be 50% concentration, 100 comfort should be 100% concentration or something -> low concentration should also give more negative tags that the editor can fix * It's a bit lame that you can circumvent protestors by dragging reporters over them * It should be possible to have i.e. 2 scandal tags on a story (major scandal) if one tags is standard and the other was added via trait * There should be an end-game use for influence when you have unlocked everything, like spending influence to get more sales, better ads or better hires.

The core concept of the game is great and I definitely see a lot of potential. Right now it sadly lacks difficulty and more interesting choices. Bascially, It's just way too easy to turn a profit and achieve everything you want to. There is set number of stories you can cover each week and with very little investment, you can cover them all pretty much from the start. I very quickly found that I had no reason to spend the money I had aquired, because here just wasn't a reason for it. A sandbox mode, in which you can manually adjust the difficulty would be great. Another problem is the lack of interesting choices and dilemmas. Right now it's pretty easy to achieve weekly goals, just by going with what is demanded during that week. There is a system that determins how many loyal customers you get based on how consistent you are in being either sensational or investigative. But I ignored that and it didn't really make a difference. I just feel like there are so many more interesting systems and choices could be derived from this game concept. If we are reporting on politics, why can't we take a position on issues in form of editorials, which attracts certain groups of people an repels others. Maybe you could even influence the outcome of an election. Things like this would greatly add to the complexity of the game and make it feel like your choices really matter. Also, some systems seem to be more or less irrelevant. Why do I need an editor, when nearly all my articles are perfect? Why do I need a laywer, when I can just pay the fee for the files, which is laughably low? Why would I ever not bribe someone for like a hundred bucks to get access to a story? I write all of this, because I see a lot of potential in this game and I'm exited to see how it develops further, right now I'm going to wait how it develops and I would recommend that to people who are thinking about buying this game too.

A masterclass in management, News Tower delivers a rich simulation set in the vibrant 1930s New York publishing scene. The jazzy soundtrack, warm visuals, and detailed portrayal of a bustling, pre-crisis America are simply delightful. Employees come to life with unique names, skills, and needs, making every layoff or financial loss sting. The game brilliantly fills a niche in gaming, offering a deep dive into the business of newspapers and the spirit of the Big Apple at its peak. It’s a treasure—both a love letter to publishing and a testament to the art of thoughtful game design.

I've played many games. I have a library full of both major and indie studio games alike, jam-packed with simulator/logistics/management games. I need to say that News Tower, for all the simplicity of some of the core mechanics and gameplay loop, is perhaps one of the best management games I've had the pleasure to play. Here's why: a) The game gives you a good enough introduction to your core tasks, but leaves the rest up to you. The financial choices you make throughout (which neighborhoods you target for certain upgrades, who you hire, when you hire, and so on) are all fairly straightforward individually but weave together as a whole to render the main loop refreshing, fast-paced, and challenging, while never quite dipping into the realm of unforgiving. b) The main task under your purview, researching for articles and selecting their placement through an intuitive and rewarding combo system, provides a fun, ongoing minigame of "who do I send where to maximize my rewards/time", "where do I place/group articles to reap the full benefit", and, of course, "do I use one set/type of articles to cater to the readers or do I censor to appease the factions?" All of these questions engage with smaller, but no less interesting or rewarding, opportunities and games of their own. Honestly, the layered design here might well be called a masterclass in terms of the interaction effects generated while maintaining a robust, easy-to-digest presentation. c) The game does a good job of immersing you in the world you're meant to inhabit. Though the texts of articles are the good ol' lorem ipsum, the events you send journalists to, the headlines you generate, and the faction interactions that emerge all contribute to establish the epoch you play in thoroughly. Articles discussing Prohibition, the Great Depression (and economic aftereffects), and even things like LaGuardia's mayoral election campaign(!). Accordingly, even though the game is about publishing the newspaper and making ends meet at heart, it doesn't feel adrift from the world around it that you're reporting on. That said, there are some rough edges. A bit of micromanagement cheese can be had with paper deliveries at the eleventh hour on Sunday - please make the resupply personnel faster. I've made my paper exclusively a Sunday evening paper as well, despite the "ROLL THE PRESSES!" alarm you get - should this be a timed window on Sunday morning? You can't publish any day besides Sunday (at least, mid-way through a playthrough) - this feels limiting; if I have several stories sitting there that will be old news next week, let me publish several editions. The random chance events (lawsuits, mafia, injuries, etc.) can feel pretty harsh, especially if you're unlucky early in your run. Certain tags associated with particular factions feel like they show up at the very end of the news cycle - why do I always get those pesky Mayor/Mafia tags on Saturday evening? All in all, News Tower is a truly engaging, compelling entry. The subject matter is fun but not aloof, and the core loop of newspaper management holds well even after several hours. I strongly recommend everyone pick this game up for a try.

It's Overwhelmingly Positive for a reason. It scratches a lot of itches like resource management, strategy, and building. The art style, graphics, and music work really well together. For an early access game its tutorial is well done too. Really looking forward to the update in the future.
