Great horror game, if you like the Lovecraftian genre. Also a tribute to the movie The Lighthouse.

No One Lives Under the Lighthouse is a slow-burn psychological horror game that excels in atmosphere, tension, and mystery. Inspired by classic horror cinema and PS1-era visuals, it delivers a uniquely unsettling experience that lingers long after you finish playing. You play as a lighthouse keeper sent to a remote island to replace the previous caretaker. At first, things seem mundane — tending to chores and maintaining the lighthouse — but gradually, a deep sense of dread creeps in. The game unfolds at a deliberate pace, allowing the tension to build naturally through subtle environmental changes and cryptic storytelling. The retro graphics are intentionally lo-fi, and they work perfectly to enhance the eerie, dreamlike quality of the game. Combined with excellent ambient sound design and a minimalist soundtrack, the game creates a constant atmosphere of unease without relying on jump scares. One of the most impressive aspects of No One Lives Under the Lighthouse is how it blends the mundane with the supernatural. The shift from routine to nightmare is handled masterfully, and multiple playthroughs reveal hidden details and alternate endings that deepen the mystery. This is not a game that explains everything — and that’s part of its charm. The abstract, ambiguous narrative invites interpretation, making it a rewarding experience for players who enjoy piecing together stories on their own. In conclusion, No One Lives Under the Lighthouse is a haunting and intelligent horror experience. It proves that fear doesn’t always come from what you see — but from what you feel, suspect, and slowly realize. A must-play for fans of atmospheric and psychological horror.

I cannot fathom how long I sat on this game for in my Steam Backlog. Certainly had a lot of feelings that "The Lighthouse" movie provided (no Willem Dafoe, though). The tension of what could be lurking nearby is always a credible concern. The story and understanding what is happening twisted my brain up a bit, but the story is easy to follow. The synopsis mentions "slow burn" and it really is. Slowly, strange things start to happen and picks up speed from then on. The beginning stages of essentially just working on the Lighthouse is also pretty fun in and of itself. If you dig Lovecraftian horror games, the A24 Classic, "The Lighthouse", or just really want to live by yourself on an island with a Lighthouse, then this is your game. 7 USD for a game that took me 2.5 hours to beat is a great price, too!

This game gave me the chills. Masterful execution, from every point of view. The story, probably inspired by the movie “The Lighthouse” (must watch if you haven't yet), is intriguing and slowly gets more and more insane. Sound is minimal, but everything is functional to the atmosphere and contributes to the sense of solitude and dread. The PS1 style graphics contribute even further in increasing the “analog horror” vibes. Great horror game which manages to distress and perturb without resorting to jump scares. Recommended!

What if instead of No one lives under the lighthouse, it was called No on lives under the freakhouse, and the spider monster starting licking your toes.
