Feb. 2026
This game is amazing. Super fun, intriguing, and spooky in a non-traditional sense. Most horror titles lean into jump scares, disturbing imagery, or gameplay mechanics that emphasize player weakness against overwhelming enemies. This game is different. The presentation, the narrative, and the gameplay all create this unique experience that leaves you feeling like there's more to be said after you reach the conclusion of the story. The presentation is that of an old school personal computer that you dive into and discover left over documents from the previous owner. It's really well made and sells the idea that you are using an operating system. Being able to open windows, go on the in-game internet and look at some of the in-game websites, launch executables, etc. It deserves its own set of praise for doing such a good job at replicating a real OS, especially the old school style OS. The narrative in its most basic form is what I explained in the previous paragraph but the interesting part of the story is what you discover from the left over documents of the previous owner. The discoveries are interesting and sometimes a bit disturbing but what I love is that the game doesn't lean on the previous cliches I mentioned about typical horror titles. It leans into this kind of "found footage" style of horror. Except in this case, it's not footage but more so found programs or documents. It's very unique in how it was all set up and I thought it was very fun to experience. The story isn't that long but there's clearly more than meets the eye with this game as there seems to be much more to do even after the conclusion of the game's narrative. The gameplay, as I stated, is mainly you interacting with documents, launching programs, and working your way through the story by finding new discoveries on the operating system. It doesn't sound like much on the surface but it's a lot of fun. Some programs act as mini games, some documents have important story implications, and there's a lot going on beyond just interacting with the OS as well. This game is best played without watching videos or a playthrough prior because it makes the experience that much more interesting and fun. The best part of this game, though, has to be the community of people who are dedicated towards solving the deeper mysteries within the game. As I've stated there seems to be a lot more going on with this game than what it presents itself as. More than even the narrative provides. From what I've seen, this game is a passion project with a lot of work having gone in to creating this deeper community-driven aspect of the story. But I think that's what is incredible to me. The game alone can stand on its own, in my opinion. It has a great story, fun and engaging gameplay, and an amazing presentation for everything. Yet, to go the extra mile and add so much content on top of that for the die hard fans is something special. For those who don't know, this game is an official release of an old indie horror title of the same name, "No Players Online", and seems to have been created by the same developers. So, to see that passion and love for what they've created so long ago still shine through on their modern take/official release is great to see. All in all, a great game to have a blind playthrough with. It's interesting, fun, and a genuinely entertaining experience.

Played the demo a while back and thought "why is this a demo, how could they expand on this idea?". Well they did, and holy moly did they outdo themselves. Some of the most unique ideas I've seen in a story horror game. It felt like I was uncovering a big mystery that no one else stumbled upon. I would absolutely recommend this to indie horror enjoyers.

Leaving a review to help boost the visibility after that unfortunate turn of events. This is very well produced and very well made hence the positive rating, not a bad game at all. Unfortunately this game is just not very scary. It's a supernatural love drama while the horror take a backseat, more accurately it's hidden in the trunk of the car. I genuinely do not think anyone will seriously be scared too much since the deeper you go, the lesser the horror happen. You'd expect the mystery to get more haunting but not really? I suppose if you just want vibes and hate jumpscares, this is for you.

Leaving a review to help the devs get a bit more visibility after they got falsely DMCA'd. It's a neat new take on the original freeware game that came out a few years ago. Definitely give it a go if you're into ARG type horror flicks.

overall liked this a lot and really don't get some of the negative reviews, which seem to mostly come from people expecting something this really obviously wasn't going to be. like, currently the top rated review of this game is complaining that it isn't Shipwrecked 64. ok? why did you even expect that? what this IS is a pretty gonzo drama story wrapped up in a little spooky package, which is... exactly what the game it shares the name of and is directly labeled as the spiritual successor to was. surprise! i liked the writing overall and i did really enjoy the few direct "scares" that were present. also had a lot of fun with the virtual desktop and all of the other games that you play and combine over the course of this. really, the only problem that -i- had was that it just kind of felt like it rushed to its conclusion, which was a little sad given how long this had been in development. some of its most novel concepts just appear and disappear real quick, and i genuinely had an itch for the forum to actually update over the course of the game just so i would have more games to play and combine. the base elements here have so much potential to be further expounded upon and if that somehow happens via a followup that just uses some of the same ideas to tell a brand-new story, i would be SO excited. what's there is very good, but it just could have used a bit more breathing room, i guess? like, the last hour of this game REALLY felt like it was hurrying to be over. still though, definitely found this to be one of the more fun horror experiences this year and am excited to see what Beeswax Games does next
