This game man.......it just kept delivering over and over and over. good game to sink your teeth into, which I wasn't expecting at all, but over the few hours I spent with it I hadn't realized how immersed I was until it was over. absolutely gripping. wonderful story. beautiful visuals. REALLY fantastic pacing all around, I have to mention that one drilling sequence towards the end, because I don't think I've locked in so hard in a long time People will inevitably compare it to Mouthwashing or Iron Lung, and aesthetically those comparisons make sense but it never feels like it's living in their shadow, it actually carves out its own little corner of horror, and it does it with a ridiculous amount of confidence and style loved it

I saw this game by chance. I thought I'd give it a try. Little did I know, I signed up to go down the rabbit hole... MOLE is a gem, a rare example of how to weave level design, music, sound, and slow, ongoing discoveries into an immersive puzzle of a world that does storytelling right. Enough is revealed to show that the story and presentation were carefully crafted, while the right things are left unexplained, allowing you to find your place, becoming part of the world as you fill in the gaps and decide what to believe. The riddles and pacing felt spot on and are built in service of the story, not to annoy or slow you down unnecessarily. The game guides you without padding playtime, it all had a good flow. I took the time to read the newspaper articles and notes, to look around and take in the setting and ended up with just over four hours of play time. Neither did the game feel cut short, nor dragged out. It felt perfect. Is it truly psychological horror, though? Yes, it is. I do not flinch in Phasmophobia , and I played Alien: Isolation , both absolutely fantastic games, but they did not scare me. And then there are so many games that claim to be horror, while it’s all just jump scares and loud noises. But MOLE? MOLE was scary. The buildup, the tension of carefully used sounds, the darkness, the uncertainty of what is real, and the question of what happened. Piece by piece, the gut wrenching realisation of what was going on - what you maybe did and what the human heart longs for in such a relatable way - come together. You want to say "Yes... god yes, I can see why you would.", but even if you wanted to scream it out, over 8.000 meters below the earth, you are alone, aren't you? And with that thought in mind, a recommendation: If you want to play this game, be aware that you can only play it for a first time once. Make it count and play it without distraction. Don't read anything about it, don't watch a stream or video playthrough and don't sit in a group call and let others talk over it. After all, you don't need anybody with you on this journey... WHITE RABBIT is calling. Keep on digging. WHITE RABBIT will hear you.
