It gets the fundamentals right. Excellent movement ( Omnidirectional dash and double jump from the get go) with cancelable high commit attacks to keep flowing. Downside is that most of the standard attacks are button mashy, without nuance, which makes traversing levels kind of a chore since actually fighting smaller enemies isn't as engaging. Many times I found myself wanting some kind of purposeful moveset variety instead of each button press being anime slashes, but eh. Bosses are pattern recognition while keeping up DPS because of how snappy and fast you are. 4/5 It's a great, juicy, medium rare steak but it doesn't come with your favorite sauce. But y'know, steak.

Pretty decent roguelike! ✅ Good combat ✅ Interesting level design ✅ Fun boss fights ✅ Amusing side characters ❌ The only thing that I think it's BAD, it's unlocking new weapons. Takes a really really long time to do that and it kinda sucks, tbh. Besides that, I really enjoyed the game. Not super challenging, pretty unique final boss... 8/10 ⭐

Awesome game, it's a platformer (strong megaman zero vibes) but the focus is fighting and exploration/clearing a level and not so much of overcoming intense obstacles and traps. the actions is fast passed and intense, and the exploration aspect doesnt really take away from the action due to the amount of teleporters littering most levels. hell even though one have to repeat the levels again and again there is always a sense of something to look for that will of course help you in the next fight. As one goes further, events take place (yes there is a plot but it isn't the strongest feature here) that will compel you to explore more and pay attention to things you might have missed the first time around, characters that you will want to return to for they will have something to say, something to offer, secret rooms with items or services, etc. not to say that the game is easy, some of the mechs in the roster may make it easier than others, and the same goes to the wide variety of weapons available, and the evolution path which increase your power with neat tricks. the boss fight's can be quite intense, but the trick is learning their patterns (more megaman zero vibes), it is incredible how difficult a boss might feel at first, until you catch wind of its pattern, and there are more bosses than there are levels in this game...to think about it Dulce Base is not that big, but it does have a lot of stuff in it. all in all the game is worth playing if you are into this kind of games of course, but dont mind my opinion, this is my first platformer since I played Megaman Zero for Gameboy years ago XD!! do try the demo available for Oblivion Overdrive, it gives you a good taste of what the game has to offer and your progress will be saved if you end up buying full game apparently.
