Quite possibly even more obscure than it's predecessor, and that's saying something! honestly crazy how fun it is despite that. seriously.

I remember being scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from this game as a kid. Honestly it is such a loss that this series didn't go anywhere after this game. Compared to the first game this one is SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY. I consider this game to be on par with the old resident evil or silent hill games from the pure enjoyment point of view. Especially because you can actually play it with your friends. I will forever love this game.

It's one of those games that start pretty promising and then become increasingly frustrating and annoying. Even more so than in the first game, the story of Obscure 2 is full of early 2000s teenage trash and horror cliches. The problem is that it gets so bad half way through that it turns from entertainingly trashy to just plain idiotic. Thanks to poor writing and equally poor voice acting, some dialogue is so stupid that it's almost painful. Once again you control a bunch of college students that you can switch as needed for a big chunk of the game, but now the story feels even more linear. Unlike the first game, it's game over as soon as any character dies. Obscure 2 is also a lot less subtle than the first game and tries to compensate a lack of real tension with simply more gore. Obscure 2 is not only more linear, but also much tougher than the first game, because ammunition and healing items are in much shorter supply, even for survival-horror standards. The difficulty gradually increases, which is good at first, but then it reaches that critical point towards the last third where genuine fair challenge turns into irritating bullsh*t and the final boss fight is just a huge pile of bullsh*t on top of a big pile of bullsh*t. It's the biggest flaw of the whole thing and the game would actually be much better overall if the difficulty was more balanced. If only it had selectable difficulty settings like the first Obscure, but no, of course not. It also has some occasional annoying grafics glitches where the screen just turns black, requiring a restart from the last safe point and the controls also didn't get better compared to the first game, rather worse if at all. The only real improvements over Obscure are the grafics and that Obscure 2 is significantly longer. Overall I'd recommend Obscure 2 to survival-horror fans who already played and liked the first game. To everybody else i'd advise to try it's predecessor first, because that's the slightly better game. _________________________________________________________________ OBSCURE 2 Genre: Survival-Horror Release: Q3 2007 ( ) 0/8 Simply one of the worst games ever made. the first one was better for me, the camera and the story are quite bad, the lock pick mechanic is extremely boring, and it's also short and easier than ObsCure 1, but it's worth the experience. Had some interesting ideas, but the execution wasn't good.
