The following is taken from a post I made about the game, so apologies for the self-plagiarizing. "Of the Devil is awesome because despite ostensibly being a genre about smart people doing smart things, a decent bit of mystery fiction falls into a trap of being...a little incurious at times, I'd say. It is very content with repeating the hits tropewise with a consideration of its setting that sometimes falls short of its thematic goals, especially when it comes to police procedurals. This isn't to say I don't love plenty of these sorts of stories, or that they need to be flawless! But there is a sort of...dissonance there, perhaps even ludonarrative, if you want to put your pretentious internet reviewer glasses on. What wows me about Of The Devil is that, that's just it, it is that smart. In its cyberpunk setting, in its characters, in its very prose, OTD is a game that has no misgivings about the tensions that broil underneath its surface. In fact, it follows those several million rabbit-holes it willingly pries open with its worldbuilding and gives satisfactory, well considered answers to those things, while still being able to keep a majority of its focus on the narrative and characters as they react to that tension. There are 5 million dominoes going down in different criss-crosses, and they're being kept track of. Like it's not just about a surveillance state, right? It's about being seen but not being seen. It's about feeling deep love, but not understanding it. It's about what it means to be human! Or to be seen as deeply inhuman. It's about choosing to believe, and always looking over your shoulder. It's about going all in on a bad deck of cards. It's also about being in the world's most toxic situationship, so that helps."

It's so damn peak... The writing continues to blow me away with every new chapter that comes out and it's got some of the most compelling characters I've seen in a modern indie title. The music hits, the artistic style REALLY strikes you, and the themes/writing really strike at a lot of things present even today. More eyes need to be on this one!

Everyone telling you to play this is correct, they're right, they're factual. Incredibly engrossing, funny when it has to be and heart wrenching when it wants to be, an insanely well written cyberpunk visual novel dripping in dystopian hues. Probably one of the most slept on indie games to come out in 2025 and I really hope nth Circle get their flowers cuz oh my god this game rules.

If you're a fan of Lesbians, Mysteries, Mysterious Lesbians, Girls with various interesting things wrong with them, and/or the visual novel Umineko When They Cry. Then you should play this. Very soon. Please?

Fantastic episode zero. The main character is instantly likable. The dry humor was timed pitch perfectly. When she would explain something, it wasn't wordy, and felt natural. I can't praise this game's writing enough for being concise and having character at the same time. The mystery was satisfying to pull apart and had a nice conclusion. The gameplay systems being put in terms of poker made it so clear, and so stylish. Why yes, I would like to double down on this piece of evidence blowing a hole in your accusation. Then the poker chip animation and sound hit... it was one of those just satisfying moments where it defines the whole experience like the OBJECTION in Phoenix Wright. Lastly, the length of this episode 0 was perfect(2 hours), and left me wanting more. Play it if you like visual novels or solving mysteries.
