Burning Blood is a third person fighter that is faithful to the One Piece lore & mechanics but at the cost of consistency, guidance and at times enjoyment. I have played 20hours on Playstation and as shown 5 hours through steam. Burning Blood takes place during the Marineford Arc and is a wonderful fighting title once you break the knowledge barrier. That being said doing so requires you to have firsthand experience testing characters & mechanics because the game fails to provide & display a lot of its information clearly (if at all). The lack of clear information leads to a frustrating new player experience with seemingly inconsistent gameplay balancing & mechanics that vary across its large roster and story mode. Mechanics like blocking, Haki & devil fruit abilities make each new battle different from the last but it also makes each fight a completely new learning experience of the mechanics you may have just mastered, this is prominently noticeable with blocking & parrying times as it is greatly inconsistent across each character in the roster. Lastly, some of the abilities and mechanics do have dedicated tutorial screens(?) however they are limited to short snippets of text without keybinds that appear during loading screens or are hidden within a log book that is only filled out once the associated information has been earned through the story or combat. Important note regarding story & anime/manga spoilers The games story takes place during the climactic Marineford (Paramount War) Arc of the Anime & Manga. It contains heavy spoilers for the aforementioned and therefor if you're looking for a game to play while catching up on the 1000+ episodes and have yet to experience it, you will greatly diminish this arcs impact on your viewing experience by playing Burning Blood. That being said if you are caught up and want a One Piece fighting game, Burning Blood was made for you and the Marineford Arc Story mode will have you reliving what some believe to be the peak of the franchise across multiple characters from this games roster. p.s. It will have you repeat fights from a different characters perspective which lessens the entire experience. As for the Roster Depending on the conditions and which mode you play, you can choose who you play in each event. The game has two rosters, the battle roster consists of playable characters whilst the support roster is full of npc characters from across the one piece world that offer unique buffs, debuffs and abilities when selected. Each character across these two rosters will need to earned through the Marineford story mode or unlocked with your earned currency. You can have at most 3 battle characters and 3 support characters however each character has an allocated grade to their usage and depending on the event settings you will be required to choose a combination that does not exceed the allocated grade score. Standard events have a maximum of 9,000 whilst multi stage events have a maximum of 12,000. Depending on your selected characters you may not be able to fill the available slots. Characters from the battle roster range from 2,000 to 3,000 while those on the support roster range from 500 to 1,000. You can create a pirate team within the pirate base menu, the pirate team is basically a loadout you can select without needing to choose your battle & support characters each match. Conclusion One Piece Burning Blood as I said at the top is a great fighting game that respects the source material (with exceptions) but it has a lot of shortcomings in the form of information and guidance alongside gameplay consistency and balancing. It offers a large cast of One Piece characters even those not seen in the Marineford Arc and each of them have unique combat models and abilities that once again respects the One Piece source material and offers varying styles of play (if at times frustratingly so). I enjoyed my time with the title when it came to the Marineford Arc (with cases of unexpected emotion not experienced since my first viewing) and found a few characters that matched my fighting game preferences in the form of Shanks, Zoro, Mihawk & Smoker. So your preferences should be met when you enter gamemodes such as Wanted Versus (Preset enemies & increased challenge), Free Battle (your selection of game settings) & Online that don't limit you to specific characters. I cautiously recommend One Piece Burning Blood to fans of the franchise but keep in mind your experience may be turbulent given the aforementioned shortcomings & fighting game history. If you're a fan of fighting games but not a fan of One Piece you might find great pleasure in learning & perfecting Burning Blood's faithful balancing & inconsistent combat across its large cast of characters. I don't believe it's worth the $70AUD price tag but if you can pick it up for $7AUD during sales and the above applies to you or it's peaked your interest, One Piece Burning Blood is worth checking out. One Piece: Burning Blood – A Fun Ride for Fans If you love One Piece, Burning Blood is a blast. The game nails the anime’s style with awesome cel-shaded graphics and flashy moves that make every fight feel like a scene from the show. The roster is stacked with fan favorites, and each character feels true to their powers—especially the Devil Fruit users. The combat is fast and fun, with a cool tag-team system and some wild special moves. It’s not super deep like other fighters, but it’s perfect for quick, action-packed battles. The Paramount War story mode is a nice bonus too, letting you relive one of the series' best arcs. It’s not flawless, especially with online play being a bit inconsistent, but for fans of the anime, it’s a great way to jump into the One Piece world and throw down with your favorite characters. Rating: 8/10 – Great for fans, flashy and fun!

This is one of the most fun I've ever had in a fighting game. This game itself is never tiring and always fun to bounce back with new characters and move sets left and right. This game also is 3d so you will be able to fight in a different rate compared to Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter altogether. Not to mention, One Piece is a well-known series that I have held dear to my very heart. The series has changed my perspective of the way I view the world and has shown the vast importance of tyranny, justice, and freedom in the great pirate era, regardless of which side you are on we are all children of the sea fighting for change. This game is fun the only wrong is that this game glitched out my hours, I have more than just 2.3 hours on this game.

Great game, however the only campaign is the Marineford arc. Wish there was more playable arcs. Still had fun kicking Whitebeards ass as Usopp

You have to play some story but eventually you can just play a one piece mortal kombat/tekken/street fighter style game, it is more than forward and backward movement so its kinda what I was looking for until I see a full fledged RPG open world style one piece game
