Chapter 1 being short is expected — it’s a tutorial. Chapter 2 (Alabasta) is where One Piece Odyssey really shines, with exploration, puzzles, and a sense of adventure. Unfortunately, most later chapters never reach that same level of content or scope, relying instead on shorter, more linear sections and gimmick-heavy boss fights. If the rest of the game matched Alabasta’s depth, this would’ve been an easy full-price recommendation. Although I still must say I did enjoy it and found it immersive.

I haven't played a ton of turn based RPGs, but this one makes me want to get into them! The visuals are stunning and being able to explore my favorite One Piece locations is my favorite pass time. The only real downside of the game is a lack of skins and not a ton to do once you finish the main story. There is a DLC that adds a little extra story content, but it is very short lived and just take you back to the initial issue. That aside this is easily a 8/10 game and I can definitely recommend it to any One Piece fan.

I love playing One Piece Odyssey butt naked and oiled up while throwing it back in circles with both direction and magnitude.

Read this before you buy – it's not for everyone If you're thinking about buying One Piece Odyssey, please read this first – especially if you're used to action-RPGs or western-style games. This is not a bad game, but it's definitely not for everyone. I'm a big fan of the One Piece anime (completely up to date), and that’s honestly the only reason I kept playing. The world, characters, and voice acting are full of nostalgia and charm if you love the Straw Hats – but outside of that, the game struggles in some key areas. What you should know before buying: The combat is turn-based, and not in a modern, dynamic way. It feels slow, repetitive, and becomes a chore over time. Menus and UI are unintuitive. Want to pause the game? It's TAB, not ESC. Want to quit the game? Go through multiple menus. It’s clearly built with consoles and Japanese RPG conventions in mind – not optimized for PC players. The pacing is slow. Cutscenes are long, battles take too long even against weak enemies, and progression feels like a grind. Very Japanese in structure. If you're not used to classic JRPGs like Dragon Quest or old Final Fantasy games, the structure may feel strange or outdated. Everything from the story pacing to the mechanics leans into that traditional style. Pros: Great visuals – the environments and characters look beautiful and faithful to the anime. High production value in cutscenes. Lots of nostalgic moments for anime fans. Full Straw Hat crew is playable – a rare treat. Cons: Combat system becomes boring quickly. Slow pacing and too much filler dialogue. Clunky PC controls and unintuitive interface. Lacks the fluidity and excitement of modern RPGs. Advancing the story often feels like a chore. If you're a hardcore One Piece fan and you're okay with slow-paced, turn-based RPGs, then you’ll probably enjoy it for the story and the nostalgia. But if you’re expecting an exciting, modern anime adventure with real-time combat and smooth progression, you might find this game frustrating, boring, or just not worth your time. I recommend watching gameplay before buying. Don’t go in blind. This game is not worth buying at full price. Unless you're a huge One Piece fan, I strongly recommend getting it only on a significant discount – otherwise, you might feel disappointed or that it wasn't worth the money.

10/10 It's honestly not a bad open world rpg game. Graphics look beautiful, gameplay mechanics work really well, and amazing story so far. (I haven't beaten the game yet but I'm enjoying it)
