A great sequel to a great first game! I think I preferred the former, because I think this game didn't do as good of a job with establishing stakes or the gravity of your choices, but the art style and gameplay is just as strong as the first! I liked how the story happens simultaneously with the timeline of the first game, as well as mentions events from your "partner's" playthrough, while still functioning as an independent storyline.
A game that makes you think about our future as a people and will geniunely conflict you while it sinks in it's message like teeth. If english class reccomended games like it reccomended "Animal Farm" then this the game series it would choose to talk about survelliance and politics. For a concept that usually bores people, this game willl keep you on the edge of your seat and remind you about choice and rights. I think everyone should play it at least once. The first in the series was definitely a more entertaining story but this second edition to the series really helps you figure out your line and then you get to think about if your government has already crossed it. Scary good, easy mechanics and a game that will surprise you.
I really enjoyed both Orwell games a lot! I will say the 1st game (Orwell: Keeping an eye on you) was much better and a lot less tedious for chasing 100% achieves, though this one (which is the 2nd) was a lot better story-wise even if it was a lot shorter (approx. 1 hour an episode and only 3 episodes all up), I just found some of the endings really hard to achieve in this one.
I've reached the part where the Influencer mode is introduced, and I can't use it. So I'm stuck between my moral ethic and wanting to complete the game. It's frustrating to not have a way to not use the influencer, or be able to use the way I be okay with. I enjoy the new mechanics, I really enjoy the game, but for now I just can't finish it xD They did a great job making this whole fake news era we're in into this game. Usually, we're in the audience's shoes, where we are the ones being influenced and rage baited or click baited, and here, you're the one actually manufacturing the truth to get the reaction you want. And it shows what someone has to become to voluntarily want to manipulate facts and truth to get one's way. That's a 'no thank you for me' xD If it wasn't [so close to] reality I wouldn't have cared at all. I'd recommend the game because it's well-made, but I dislike that part, so well done!
This game (and its predecessor) was recommended to me, and I'm rather quite glad for the recommendation! It's a great game (though the first is narratively stronger), that asks questions about truth, surveillance, the value of information and safety as well as challenging you, the player, to piece together a complex story of very human events. The characters' stories feel human and understandable, and the themes of war, power and control are truly Orwellian in their execution. I particularly liked the voice acting, particularly for Raban Vhart, whose part in the opening immediately drew me in (and had me playing until I finished the whole game). Again; the first game is even stronger (though Raban's voice acting does beat it), but this is certainly worth the price and your time!
