I thought this game would just be a courtroom simulator where you solve cases and give justice. I was completely wrong. This game is not about justice. It’s about power, survival, manipulation, fear, and politics during the French Revolution. Every decision feels dangerous because the moment you make one faction happy, another faction starts plotting against you. At first I tried to be fair and moral. Then the game slowly made me realize something terrifying: sometimes giving the “right” verdict can get you killed. You start understanding why corrupt systems are born. Why revolutions become brutal. Why people in power slowly lose their humanity. The game doesn’t tell you that directly — it makes YOU feel it through your own choices. One moment you are investigating evidence like a judge. The next moment you are executing political enemies to protect your own position. And the craziest part? You slowly start justifying it to yourself. The writing and atmosphere are incredible. The low-poly art style somehow makes everything feel cold, tense, and emotionally heavy. Every character feels like they are hiding something. Every alliance feels temporary. Every trial feels like a political weapon. If you liked games like Suzerain, Papers Please, Beholder, or political strategy games with moral choices, this is absolutely worth playing. But honestly, this game feels even more personal because YOU directly decide who lives and who dies. This is one of those rare games where after closing it, you sit there thinking: “Did I actually do the right thing… or did I just do what was necessary to survive?” Absolutely underrated.
A very good game if you like visual novels. It has very limited voice acting but the voice acting it does have is very good. My only real complaint is they did not voice act everything. The story does change some depending on the choices you make. The game is about 10 hours per play through. I would recommend checking this game out. For the Revolution!
I almost forgot to write a review for this one. We. The Revolution is a visually stunning game with a strong foundation. The low-poly art style is gorgeous, and the first act does a fantastic job pulling you into Revolutionary France. The courtroom drama, moral dilemmas, and political maneuvering are genuinely engaging. Unfortunately, the further you get, the more the cracks show. Some decisions turn out to be railroaded, undercutting the sense of agency the game builds early on. Worse, mechanics introduced later (particularly the strategy/army segments) feel underdeveloped and out of place. When the game sticks to what it does best, it shines. It just doesn’t always stick to that. Worth trying if the setting appeals to you. Just don’t expect full control over your revolutionary fate :)
This feels less like a traditional game and more like an interactive play, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. You often act within the boundaries set by the developers rather than shaping events freely, but the story they want to tell is interesting enough to carry you forward. Judgements and political decisions rarely feel comfortable, which fits the tone of the setting well. Even when your agency feels limited, the atmosphere and writing keep you invested.
