A cute little game that knows what it wants to be and executes well.

Fun game, rules are simple enough to easily grasp but allows for emergent gameplay. Encompasses Civ's feeling of "just.. one more turn" quite well, and the games are relatively pretty quick. However, the game UI could use some polish. One gripe I have is that after winning I'm not able to see which missions I've completed (wonders built) to get the winning crowns. Even after saving and reloading a turn before, that section is wiped - don't know it it's intentional, but I would like to be able to actually see how/why I've won in the review page. Other than the UI (like having difficulties seeing what power the enemy civilizations are at), don't have any notes. Sure, you can always include new mechanics to add even more depth to the gameplay, but sometimes simple is best. A good starting point for people who want to try out strategy games to jump into. Map art is great, sound effects are crispy and music is very soothing. Would recommend.

An great little game that I like to pick up when I sort of want to play Civ, but don't want to put in hours of gameplay to play Civ. One game takes ~ half an hour and there are a good amount of maps + starting positions with ranging difficulties.

This is a good attempt at a bite-sized 4X, though I find that most of my matches still lasts about 1-2 hours. I enjoyed the framing and writing in the tutorial, it's a good intro and sets the scene nicely. Graphics are basic but serviceable. The interface is pretty good but with how crucial upgrades are, I find that I cycle through the submenus every turn, sometimes multiple times. It feels like bringing those into the main map screen would prevent the need for the constant opening and closing of submenus and elevate the main map. Another note is that the combat is a bit odd. It seems to require threatening tiles and then piling on additional units in the following turn to pull through. However, as combat becomes more and more the focus as the game progresses, every empire has many units bouncing around and the costs of moving them is negligible in the later stages of the game. This leads to awkward combat where armies criss-cross the map every turn and success is mostly dependent on multiple attacking empires overwhelming a single antagonist. Overall this is a cool game which is giving me the pivotal 'one-more-turn' feeling. Maps and factions are varied which allow focusing on different strategies. However, having played several rounds, the awkwardness of the combat is a bit of a turn-off.

9.5/10 This is such a sleeper hit of a digital board game. I've gotten pleasantly lost over the past several months picking this up, beating a few of the several dozen different playable positions and maps - all with their own challenges - putting the game down and coming back a few weeks later to remember what made it so engrossing. It's quick and easy to learn, but several starting positions can be a real challenge! I'd gladly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good solo board game experience with a puzzling challenge. The simplicity of the game's structure is a huge win, but if I had to nit-pick it would be it's one downside too. For a game with so much variety in maps and starting positions, once you've played through a number of them, the variety seems to narrow and become quite repetitive. I understand how complex adding one new element to the mix would be for both programmer and player, but if I had a wish for Ozy II, that would be it. Perhaps unique modifiers to each map? Food for thought from a non-dev who thoroughly enjoys your game!
