The game is solidly constructed, and seems like a well done remake as far as I can tell, but I think this entry is just a bit boring for an adult to play. Not much use to your unique moveset, 90 percent of the game is straightforward platforming, the levels are about twice as long as they should be, but don't provide enough challenge to be engaging from moment to moment. The completion criteria of "get everything" is fine but it's frustrating since you don't have any sort of real progress meter to determine you truly got everything, and with the level length, replaying to find a single fruit would probably be annoying, which isn't generally an issue since 90 percent of the collectibles are on the critical path. There aren't a whole lot of opportunities to flex your platforming skills. The only place the difficulty amps up a little is the bosses, but it's mostly stressful because they are slow and stage based so if you die and lose all your progress it just kinda, sucks? The bonus classic pacman esque dot gobbling stages are also very easy, but I'm not particularly good at original pac-man so I consider that a bit of a saving grace. Might 100 percent it, not a bad game or anything, the other ones just look more interesting.
This game was an absolute joy! Although it is extremely easy, they hand out lives like candy, I can't complain too much as the controls are tight. Unfortunately Pac-Man's shadow is a bit weird and tends to throw off some minor platforming but it never made anything impossible, just gave me a few needless deaths, Something of note; my 3 year old daughter was drawn to this one, she would sit in my lap for up to an hour watching me play and even tried some of the earlier levels herself. Not all children are the same but I thought it noteworthy that she now knows who Pac-Man is and will request that I play it over my other games.
A really chill and enjoyable platformer. I especially like that you can 100% every level on the first try, with no need for backtracking. The maze and mega pacman sequences are great throwbacks to classic pacman gameplay. The only part i didn’t enjoy was the slot machine at the end of each level - it’s easily one of the SLOWEST and most unrewarding slots in all of gaming. Also, with the fixed camera and no shadow marker under the player, it’s often hard to judge jumps and landings. Other than that, a great time.
