Species A.L.R.E but better. Spore but more sandbox like. Great timewaster and fun to play around with

I played the free demo for 4 hours before purchasing the game. I have really enjoyed it so far. You can take a more active role, or you can place your starting organisms and sit back and watch them develop on their own. Some things I really like about the game (which also make it unique from Spore): - I like that you affect your planetary conditions (the core temperature, the water, etc.) and that you can use this as a driving force of evolution - I like that designing an organism doesn't make it better. Even though you take the role of a god in some ways, this game doesn't have a creationist agenda and it actually depicts natural selection in a fair way: that survival is about fitness not design - The game has challenge to it Some suggestions for the developer, since the game is in early access: - I would really like it if when I am looking at a creature in the encylopedia, that I could click something to pinpoint it quickly on the planet - Likewise, I would like to be able to click a creature on the planet and find its encyclopedia entry from its info screen In conclusion, I can tell that the developer genuinely cares about this project. It's very charming and I can't wait to see where it goes! The creatures are also very cute!

In my eternal search for a Spore successor, this one comes the closest; making it a god game somehow makes the Spore formula even better. Following the development of this one closely...

Left this running overnight with a five different base species, when I woke up everything converged to different species of crabs. Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. 8/10

This game is like SimEarth, SimLife, SimAnt, and Spore all rolled into one. Adding intelligence and civilizations would only make it better, and it's pretty good as-is. The cellular stage added a lot of depth, it's now possible to custom create all life - plants, organisms, and fungi, from the building blocks. Some of the explanation of how each cellular component contribute to the whole organism would be nice, but experimenting with all-mitochondria or whatever and seeing what happens is half the fun. Once you get a few plants and animals created, exporting them and importing them into a different planet and save is easy. Atmospheric composition is mostly "have enough oxygen for things to live" at this stage, but the framework appears there for a more complex implementation later on. As far as I can tell, animals must breathe oxygen, alternate metabolisms aren't possible. In the same theme, some evolutionary options aren't available until mouths or lungs evolve, making my dream of giant, filter-feeding flying mollusks just a dream for now. Overall, this is a great game, and I've found it well worth what I paid for it. I'm excited for future updates!
