Prison Simulator is a tongue-in-cheek first-person management experience that invites players to step into the boots of a correctional officer and navigate the daily grind of life inside a penitentiary. Developed by Baked Games and published by PlayWay S.A. alongside the developer’s own label, the game mixes routine-based simulation with chaotic unpredictability, blending dark humor with bursts of genuine tension. Rather than striving for gritty realism, it leans into a playful and occasionally satirical depiction of prison life. You begin as a rookie guard assigned to a rundown facility, gradually learning the rhythms of inmate movement, contraband inspection, yard duty, and meal supervision. This early phase establishes the game’s central appeal: you are given a job with structure, but what happens within that structure can vary wildly depending on your decisions—and the unpredictable behavior of the inmates. The day-to-day gameplay consists of completing assigned tasks that mimic the routines of a correctional officer. These include checking cells for forbidden items, managing roll calls, escorting troublesome inmates, breaking up fights, patrolling corridors, and keeping order in shared spaces. Each task is presented as a small interactive scenario, often supported by simple mini-games. While these mechanics are easy to learn, their repetition quickly reveals the game’s sandbox nature; the true engagement comes from how you choose to play your role. You can maintain discipline by the book, enforcing rules strictly and building respect among guards, or you can stray into corruption—taking bribes, overlooking suspicious behavior, or bending the rules for personal gain. This moral flexibility gives the simulation an unexpected layer of role-playing depth, allowing the player to shape the prison’s atmosphere, inmate dynamics, and their own reputation. Visually, the game presents a drab, utilitarian prison environment that fits the setting while revealing its indie origins. The blocky architecture, repetitive textures, and stiff character animations evoke a modest budget, yet the art direction succeeds in establishing a grimy, oppressive atmosphere. Inmates shuffle, taunt, or erupt into violence with little warning, making the environment feel active even when the visuals lack polish. Technical imperfections remain noticeable: occasional clipping, AI oddities, and uneven sound design remind the player that the simulation is held together by a small team’s ambition. Still, the tone and presentation complement the game’s somewhat exaggerated approach to prison life—bleak enough to support tension, but not so serious that its rough edges feel out of place. Narratively, Prison Simulator doesn’t revolve around a traditional storyline. Instead, it uses small vignettes, personal interactions, and dynamic events to create a loose narrative that emerges from your actions. Whether you unfairly punish a prisoner, break up a riot, accept a bribe, or earn praise from fellow guards, the game quietly tracks your behavior and adjusts inmate sentiment accordingly. These shifting relationships generate micro-stories: grudges, alliances, brewing unrest, or unexpected moments of calm. The lack of overarching plot frees the game to focus on moment-to-moment unpredictability. Some players may find this approach liberating, while others may crave a more structured or dramatic narrative arc. Despite its entertaining foundation, the game’s limitations become more apparent over time. Tasks begin to feel routine, and the variety offered early on does not expand enough to sustain long-term depth. The mini-games tied to searches, inspections, or prisoner management can grow repetitive after extended play. The systems, while functional, lack deeper mechanics that might support more complex emergent scenarios or strategic decision-making. As a result, the game’s strongest hours are often the early ones, when its novelty and moral freedom are most impactful. Once you’ve seen the core loops and explored both the lawful and corrupt paths, replayability depends largely on your personal appetite for sandbox role-play rather than evolving mechanics. In the end, Prison Simulator succeeds as a light, humorous, and accessible take on correctional facility management. It offers enough freedom to let players experiment with different personas—strict enforcer, opportunistic schemer, or indifferent clock-puncher—and its simulated chaos often leads to amusing or tense moments. Though it lacks the depth, polish, and realism of more advanced simulation titles, its charm lies in its willingness to be both silly and slightly subversive. For players seeking a straightforward yet entertaining simulation with a dark comedic edge, it delivers a satisfying experience. For those searching for a deeply layered or highly polished management sim, it may feel too shallow once its initial novelty fades. Rating: 8/10

Very great game. It is probably one of the best simulator games I have played. It has an actual story mode to go along with the daily routines that randomize each day. The routines are engaging and fun and you get to choose how you go about it (good cop/bad cop) and upgrade things. I do wish the story was longer, but all in all, a fantastic game.

You are in charge of literally everything from checking and searching the inmates to cleaning your guns, giving punishment to rebellious inmates or completing executions. You can even deal with inmates or pay bribes to guards or prisoners to have a blind eye on your sideline contraband business. Character's voices suck but otherwise gameplay and graphics are very good for a simulation game. No multiplayer option but i believe it is preferable this way. :) Give it a shot you won't be disappointed!
