Disclaimer: My playtime is a lot longer, closer to 4 hours. One of the fixes for the game made Steam not recognize when I have the actual game running (the menu and actual game are two separate instances for some reason). Project: Snowblind is an excellent, albeit dated game which has issues running on modern hardware. It reminds me a lot of the Crysis series. Sadly, the game crashes often, sometimes 5 minutes into running since it cannot support multi-core processors, unless you apply a community fix. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2040494150 This guide offers the solutions you'll need to get it running. Do be aware that even with the guide, the game crashes roughly every 1 hour of playtime. Fortunately, it's a short game that does have acceptable saving and short levels. You can save at the start of each level and at fixed mid-level saving zones. Always save when given the chance. You can get around the 1 hour of playtime thing by just closing and reopening the game every two levels or so. Do NOT Alt-Tab, it crashes the game. Using turrets sometimes crashes the game too, be aware. In terms of other technical problems, some hitboxes are peculiar, you can get stuck on nothing or sometimes phase through turrets. There's also broken audio in mid-game menu, an increasingly louder stuttering. The game's graphics are noticeably aged and there's a blur in certain levels. Two of the cutscenes in the late-game lacked sound, no clue if it was a user-end issue sadly. The gameplay is solid if you can get past that. Lots of different weapons, grenades and abilities, as well as multiple options for progressing through levels. You even have a gravity gun... However, the game doesn't offer any incentives to use most of toolkit you have and the levels are rather short. Good for replayability I suppose. Each weapon also has a special ability/alternate fire mode which is a cool addition, albeit not a very useful one in practice since the enemies are not that strong and you won't be facing too much of a challenge in any level. Shootting is good, the enemies are not bullet-spongy. In fact, it quite often felt like they died a little too quickly. They react to your shots which is cool. Melee animations are wonky (as in, it doesn't look like a sufficiently powerful punch) but they're pretty strong and useful. There's locked-on soft aim-assist which may be a malus for some folks. It's not very disruptive but it's clearly present. The game offers you all the ammo you'll need to progress and is quite generous with pickups in general. There's also health & energy upgrades scattered across the levels which make for neat collectibles. The story and writing are good, I quite enjoyed it. There's quite a few jokes and neat scenes. The level-design is excellent, albeit small as previously mentioned. Each level has hackable objects and multiple avenues of approach. The game has 18 levels and I'd say around 4-6 hours of content in its campaign, depending how you play. There's solid variance in the environments as well as good enemy variety. I like the fact you're not alone in the fight. You're part of a Coalition Force and you got buddies fighting alongside you in many missions. Some parts of your arsenal also allow you to summon temporary allies like shock drones, you can also hack and convert enemy robots to your side. I really love that. The design in general looks great. Music is also good. Overall, I'll give it a 9/10 with the missing point being due the technical problems that it suffers from. That said, I've seen far worse issues in old games like this. It was clearly made by a competent team, the game was intended to be a Deus Ex game at first, and it goes for a bargain price, so I fully recommend it.

Project Snowblind is a FPS game released in 2005. You shoot people and robots, to do good of course and travel through seperate levels. Game is linear, you do not have meaningful choices that affect story or outcomes, no experience and character progression etc. What you have to decide is which weapons, items and powers you will use along the way and maybe choose some paths that will require less direct combat and hacking towers etc. Though its quite easy and you do not see the benefit. +Story/Setting: A rogue faction is attacking hong kong so we try to stop them, along the way You've never asked for this (TM) and became a super soldier. There are cutscenes and dialogs giving some story but they are too shallow, since you have no choice how it unfolds it's rather moot. There was a scene where they think alternate options which was above game's average. ++Gameplay: Well , it has lots of guns. All guns have alternative fire options and they are interesting and fun to use. You have many consumable items, flashbangs, gas, emp grenades, portable shields, mini robots ... they are useful. You also have powers that spend your energy , like bullet time and ballistic shields, all very useful.... Only problem is game is not challenging enough or designed around so you HAVE to use them. You can just use one of the better guns and never use any of the gadgets. Yes it's a nice freedom however, all those stuff seems wasted. +/- Technical: It crashes and does not support 21:9 and alt tab. ALL IS FIXABLE though. I used pcgamingwiki's widescreen fix with windowed=1 option. This fixed alt-tab crash. I also copy pasted steam.dll into game folder, make snowlind.SP into exe, set compatability XPSP3 and then renamed it back. Set CPU Affinity to CPU0 ( one core) never had a crash again. It's easy to fix so OK. Steam overlay worked, screenshots worked, no feature lost. A short fun FPS. Nice to play.

What a janky old game, the project started life as third Deus Ex game and took own its own identity and it's evident - it's like a weird mix between Halo and Deus Ex, while an interesting concept, at some points there's so much raw jank you have to ask - how did this come out in 2005. It is sometimes unclear how to approach anything - you're given a ton of tools like a 'hack-gun' and tons of guns but there isn't always a satisfying way to do things and you just have to take hits, the hitboxes are sometimes weird, you get stuck on small ledges and have to jump over them and the enemy animations on hit make it oddly unclear if they're dead until they drop so you just keep shooting, and that's besides the occasional crashes. Also there's a gravity gun that you essentially can go the entire game without using. The story, characters, dialogues and writing is goofy at times but it doesnt seem like it takes itself too seriously. The levels are pretty open and you're given what at times seems like an absurd amount of tools. Not bad overall, its a solid 5-6/10.

A few caveats before we continue. This is a 2005 game. It barely runs or doesn't run at all for a lot of windows players. I personally recommend using Steamdeck or a Linux distro with Proton to run this and even then it's not without a few work-arounds. It also crashes occasionally in the early game, but that's just the game itself and not a system issue. Have I enjoyed this? Yes, yes I have. For it's time, this is quite advance. Would I recommend it to modern gamers, not really. It's janky, has PS2 era graphics, and the systems in the game don't have super good feedback for the player. Also the guns aren't anything special. Should you buy it? If you're into retro or nestalga, yes. Everyone else, absolutely no.

Decent game that has issues with crashing. I made it to the final level but man, I won't lie to you, crashing when nearing the end and being sent back half an hour worth's of time just has me tired. I'll probably finish it sometime later in the future. Anyways, worth a buy if you don't mind applying a fix or two. Cheers.
