This is an casual/arcade game. This is NOT Snowrunner, Mudrunner, Spintires game. You will be mostly making roads and some bridges, setting routes for AI convoy and picking up some debries to recycle/selling or cutting trees. There only a couple of vehicles, not as many as Snowrunner, the mod browser has NO new vehicles and only 2 pages. No vehicle damage, the trailers on the trucks are permanent, no upgrades. If you want a more realistic construction game then look at Construction Simulator, if you want a more casual game then this is for you. There's no night time cycle, but there's rain, doesn't affect nothing its only for asthetic purposes. Maximum of 4 players for co op. One thing that is annoying: the starting vehicles are locked behind specific map objectives. If you are playing on the second map and your friend(s) join you, they will not be have the same vehicles unlocked as you, they will need to go back and do the previous map objectives to unlock them. Or play with you, get a higher level to unlock the better versions of the vehicles but it will take a while as every couple of levels unlock a few vehicles. At lvl 18 you will unlock every vehicle but its slow, as of writting this at 25hrs I am at my 4th map and im lvl 9 with doing all objectives and missions. Only scout vehicles have winches. The crane trucks can only winch from the crane. There's no auto load you have to manually load into your truck. Despite everything I have said I still find the game fun.

First, some perspective. Reading the other reviews, I've come to the conclusion that if you played Snowrunner and liked it, you're not going to like Roadcraft. They're basically the same premise, but opposite. At a very high level, in Snowrunner, you're upgrading trucks to use the unupgradable roads, in Roadcraft you're upgrading roads so the unupgradable trucks can use them. Roadcraft is not a muddier version of Snowcraft *now with bulldozers*. Snowrunner is a logistics game, Roadcraft is a construction game. Snowrunner is "what's the best truck to move this cargo to that place", Roadcraft is "Will those AI trucks be able to go down this path or do I need to go to this road and move the boulders, cut the trees, grind the stumps, lay sand, flatten it, pave it, and roll it first?". For those that haven't played either but got both during the Winter Sale or whatever, I'd start playing the first mission on both and see which you prefer and ignore the negative reviews from the Snowrunner people and just look at the reviews that describe this game from a standalone perspective. Just be aware that if you plan on playing both, you have to make a huge change in playstyle between the two. This is not a "hurry up and get to the next mission" game. This game is for those of us that are tedious, like the kind of people that play Farming Simulator to where they own the whole map and plant it with a crop that the AI can't harvest. It requires patience, planning, and is best if you build things optimally, not quickly. You'll find yourself spending all afternoon dumping sand, flattening it, putting down asphalt and rolling it just so that 1 truck can go from a tunnel to a building once and then have the road never be used again. For me, it was a great game, I took it REALLY slow, and finished all the missions and DLC in 275 hours. But, now the things I didn't like. I don't like that Kelly from the main game just disappears with the DLC, it goes from a game with kind of a storyline, or at least a storyline per mission to just a list of objectives which at times seem like they're being presented in the wrong order. In the main game everything goes from Point A to Point B, literally and figuratively. In the Rebuild DLC, they'll want you to take some supplies somewhere, then 10 missions later they ask you to build the road to that place, which you may or may not need at that point. There are miles and miles of dirt roads you don't really use that are perfectly clear of obstructions, then there will be a road which is the only way to get to a location and they'll just randomly cover it in boulders. Not because it makes sense, but because you have to spend 30 minutes getting a crane there to move the rocks. If you have to make a route, you always have to see what kind of vehicle is going on the route by putting down at least 1 point. If it's a tractor-trailer, you might as well just start paving, if it even sees sand near the route, it's wheels are going to start spinning and the route is going to fail. If I actually owned this company, I wouldn't even have any tractor trailers, I'd rather split the load into 3 smaller AWD vehicles and have them actually get there than to have to pave every puddle to let the big truck through. Overall though, the game never crashed, and the physics and graphics had very few if any issues. Like I said, if you're tedious and can understand the fact that you're playing the game for the gameplay and not the reward at the end, then this is your game.

This isn't Mudrunner or Snowrunner. This is something else. The runner series is more about the journey, about fighting the environment while going to objectives, This game isn't, it's more of a sandbox to shape the world as you want to complete objectives. Sure there are logical paths, missions that AI builds roads for you, paths the developers have clearly designed for you to send your convos on... but if you dont want to, you don't have to. I spent 3-4 hours building a giant ramp of sand to get a convoy to an objective rather than knock down trees and sand out roads in a much easier route. Was my solution optimal... (or likely what the devs expected?) no it wasnt, did it take significantly longer than doing the optimal path... ABSOLUTELY, but now i Have an earthen ramp similar to the romans during the seige of masada! This game is great if you want a big sandbox to play with trucks. It's like I'm 8, playing in a sandbox.

Do you like driving around extremely slowly and occasionally tipping over? This game is for you. Do you like driving around extremely slowly and getting stuck in mud? This game is for you. Do you like driving around extremely slowly and getting stuck in water? This game is for you. Do you like driving around extremely slowly and getting stuck on a boulder? This game is for you. Do you like driving around extremely slowly and getting stuck on a tree stump? This game is for you. Do you like driving around extremely slowly in different vehicles? This game is for you. Do you like using a crane and forgetting to deploy stabilisers and tipping over while you mash the stabiiser button in vain? This game is definitely for you.

Ignore all the haters who don't like the game because it isn't an impossible slog like the last few games. Don't get me wrong, I have always been a massive fan of the Runner series as a whole, but I've never actually fully beaten one before. These games always get so impossibly difficult about half way through when all the roads are falling apart and you don't quite have enough for the really nice vehicles yet. Talk about major grind. This game solves that problem with its core mechanic. Road is too impassable to cross? Just build a road and you'll be fine. Anyone complaining that this game requires too much grinding with the road building don't understand what they paid for. This isn't a Runner game, it's Runner adjacent. The grind has changed and they are upset about it. It's a different game, of course the grind changed. I guess to sum it all up, if you like the concept of building roads in a game with fantastic mud/snow mechanics then this is the game for you. The road building can be a little tedious, but it is way more satisfying when you finally get a road built. I always felt the one mechanic missing from the Runner games was road building and I got exactly that from this game. If you are looking for a pure Runner experience than this isn't the game for you. It's a Runner hybrid, but not a true Runner game on its own
