This is a real hidden gem. The mechanics feel absolutely tight and the gameplay is very engaging. I really enjoy the "bullet-heaven" style mechanic of auto shooting once you get in range. Since most of the weapons are projectile based and not hit-scan, the enemies may be able to dodge the shots, so the platforming becomes very dynamic, dodging the enemies as you try and lock down your shots, as well as stomping on them once you get the chance. I've encountered plenty of various synergies so far, there seem to be tons of different modifiers, abilities and weapons. Although so far I've found relatively little in terms of player choice in regards to the various power-ups (most of them randomly picked from chests and such), at no point did I feel underpowered or doomed, and it does have the upside of feeling quick and snappy, as usually, given too much choice, I fall into analysis paralysis which slows down the game too much. With that said, there are some ways to mitigate the randomness (seller/trader rooms,re-rolls etc). The runs usually last I'd say between 10-30 minutes, with an option available to save the run and continue another time. The game is quickly becoming my go-to for when I have a few minutes to spare between things. Also Worth noting that it runs beautifully on the Steam Deck. TL;DR Absolutely fantastic game, a rare hidden gem which feels absolutely premium.

I've never seen such a bunch of clown reviews before. If you're looking at this after it went to Ultra near the end of 2023, it's a pretty solid game. The powerups are fun and impactful and it rewards smart and skilled play. I've seen reviews that mention "supporting the dev's" or "bought it in the past" around the end of last year, they didn't, it was originally a free to play game they built a full fledged game around. Sure be upset they didn't want it to be free for no gain as there's no mtx in this thing at all, it's just a solid full fledged roguelite platformer. I got it during a steam sale for around $7 and it feels like a great bargain as I play it with tons of different characters to focus different abilities around.

I would say this is Galaga as a platformer. One of my favorites to play with my wife! A good mix of levels and challenges. I hope it gets more updates soon and on the switch!

Picked this out of complete randomness from my backlog and I haven't been able to put it down for days! It's yet another auto aim action roguelike but with a unique twist -- instead of running around in circles on a flat plane dodging mobs of enemies, Rogue Glitch Ultra is all about platforming. The levels are procedurally generated and so is enemy placement. These enemies are above you, below you, hanging on the walls, flying at you, running at you; and you need to jump and slide and hover to get near enough to them so your auto aim bullets take them out, but not too close. Unless you want to stomp them, which you can do if you're directly above. It's a really fresh approach to an enjoyable but somewhat worn out genre. The controls are tight and smooth to the point where every time I lose a life I know it was my sloppiness, not the game. And being an action roguelike you pick up different abilities and weapons on each new run and it's very well-balanced -- while certainly getting some good luck in the pickups will help your run, it's never a make-or-break situation, you're not doomed if you don't get lucky. There are so many weapons and abilities too, and most of them are helpful so you rarely feel like you missed out. Finally, even though the graphics are on the basic side, they really did a lot with a little here by making everything a glowy, glitchy, smeary neon that's amazing to look at, especially when you start getting some "glitch" levels deeper into the game where everything crackles and pulses with light. A gem of a game, unfortunately buried somewhere in the endless caverns of the Steam store. 9/10
