Spend many hours across a few different RPG makers (including this one) many years ago. Eventually I graduated to wider/complex engines, but I can absolutely recommend this for beginners or hobbyists alike. No need to buy additional assets, just start small and think a bit about what you wanna build before you start. Oh and wait for a sale, the price goes down very steeply!

i actually have way more time than this .. you can probably guess why .. though i outgrew this program a while ago it's still good if you know literally nothing about gamedev. anything past VX ace is good too

It's very easy to learn, although it is very confusing as soon as you first open it. If you are going to purchase this, do not read or watch the tutorials. You will get stuck, and it will make it much less fun than it should be. I learned it fully in less than 12 hours of just playing the games people made in it, and looking at the inner workings of what people made, or tinkering with it. Its one of the few games that truly make me happy, because I knew I was producing something worthwhile. And, when I got stuck, I just looked up the problem online to fix it. It's worth it, and can be used for games that aren't just RPGS.

Yes, I do recommend this program to other users, the simplicity of use makes it an amazing program to create videogames and RPGs, even if it looks too simple, it's very robust and allows for a lot more than expected.
