This game is phenomenal - every bit of it. The story unfolds in the most intriguing way allowing you to bizarrely piece it together. It's a great blend of unsettling story, insanity, and tragedy. The puzzles aren't so difficult that you'll spend hours aimlessly wandering around nor are you hosed if you miss something and 4 hours later realize it. (Looking at you, custard pie from King's Quest.) I cannot recommend this game enough. Once I started playing it, I didn't want to stop.

kind of genius to end this game with a remix of all its best dialogue... i need more developers on this. overall i thought the story was super interesting and engaging and i really loved how it unfolded through flashbacks within and in between levels. these cinematics were very impressive and i could easily picture this game turned into a movie! my favourite levels were probably the pumpkin patch and sarah going through the house. max made for a very likeable main character and it was so lovely and sad seeing his relationship with sarah, as well as how his relationship with dr morgan developed. i was less interested in the comic book character and aztec warrior (level 10 was definitely the worst and most boring by far), but at the same time could appreciate how the game explored different parts of max's psyche. there was some general clunkiness such as way too much repetition in dialogue across characters, some very unobvious puzzles /interactables and weird movement mechanics (i was playing with a trackpad) which became frustrating in timed puzzles, but on the whole i was so impressed with the game and the narrative will definitely stay with me.

A- A true classic. It's been a really really long time since playing this game and I only remembered key pieces of the story. As a PnC Adventure game, the game is pretty easy and there are only a couple of puzzles that should take you brief moments to solve. The gem of this game is the art direction and delivery and it still is so novel. It takes the isometric 3rd person perspective where this was unique for PnC since nearly all viewpoints were orthogonal or perpendicular to the world. I really love how the cutscenes are interwoven through the gameplay. The story, creepiness, and unveiling of weird creatures and subplots is so well done. If there are any classics needing to be remade this is definitely one of them. Really no bugs to speak of running in SCUMMvm. I opted to go streched aspect ratio on my widescreen as it actually looked pretty good. The only thing I disliked was Max's walking speed....omg so slow!

It actually uses logic to solve puzzles, unlike many other adventure games.

Was too damned scared to play this game when I was small and am really happy I backed out after the first level. I would have had some horrible nightmares and would have probably been a bit traumatized... or maybe not. Either way, I came back to it now and finished the game. I can say it has been an enjoyable experience and terrifying at the same time, but I highly recommend you to play Sanitarium if you are a fan of adventure point 'n click games as well as horror stories. It scores really high in both categories, I will even call it a masterpiece.
