Such a satisfying incremental game. The upgrades all felt meaningful. Progress was smooth. The gameplay loop was addicting. It's stressless without being boring. The art style is adorable and the music is good. Honestly, there's not much to complain about here. This is an extremely fun little game.
A short, and perfectly executed incremental game that mixes in some elements from other great titles like Dave the Diver. The upgrade tree is massive, and at no point does progress halt or feel to grindy. One thing I particularly liked was the lack of soft resets (prestiges). Progression is smooth and done in one playthrough. Easy recommend
🐚 Shelldiver Review 🐢 What an amazingly cute, cozy, and deeply satisfying little game! You play as a charming old turtle on a mission to sell jellyfish for shells, unlock brilliant upgrades, and finally earn the peaceful sleep you deserve after all that hard work. The artwork is absolutely adorable, colourful, bright, and a perfect fit for the relaxing sea vibes. There are multiple biomes to explore (four in total), each with three different depth levels. Every biome feels distinct, with its own layouts and unique jellyfish types, as well as different materials to “mine” for upgrades like mushrooms being one example. The skill tree is fantastic. There’s a wide variety of upgrades, and the more you invest in them, the more ridiculously satisfying the gameplay becomes. Collecting jellyfish and materials feels great, especially once you’re properly upgraded. You can also recruit little helpers like starfish and seahorses that shoot for you, which adds to the fun and makes you feel progressively more powerful. Near the end of the game, being fully upgraded and blasting through everything was incredibly enjoyable. That said, the sound effects are excellent, especially when collecting items. One thing I loved most is that the game is largely non-stressful, not being constantly attacked makes it perfect for relaxing and just enjoying the loop of diving, collecting, and upgrading. Later on, you do need to keep an eye on certain jellyfish that emit an electric pulse, but there are upgrades that make you resistant to this, so it never becomes frustrating. Overall, I loved the game. It’s fairly short (around 4–5 hours), which is a bit of a shame as I would happily have played more, but for the price it’s an absolute steal. I’d love to see a bigger follow-up one day, more maps, more things to collect, and more to do. For my achievement hunter friends, this is an easy and enjoyable 100%, as you’ll unlock most achievements naturally just by playing through the game.
