Great game EXCEPT for the dev's obsession with eggs. THE EGG MECHANIC IS TERRIBLE!!! And they just released a dlc for it. WHY?! We want ghost ships and gold coins and lost civilizations, instead you keep making egg gear and egg artifacts and egg dlc. ARE YOU FRANK FROM ALWAYS SUNNY?! It makes me want to NOT unlock new items because it's all egg gear and will ruin my gear pool. Stop with the eggs already, It's ruining the game. GAAAAAH

Overcooked but you kill bad fish. Good game, but a couple of glitches that are really annoying to deal with. Only one was game-breaking but I couldn't replicate it. 6/10 solo, 8/10 co-op.

For a small game, Ship of Fools is a delightfully fun couch co-op. My husband and I have played it multiple times over now -- always starting from the beginning to re-unlock everything together. With a bit of communication, it's just a super fun way to spend a weekend together seeing how ridiculous of a ship we can manage or what game breaking combos we can stack up. This game has a lot of charm and has genuinely become one of my favorites.

Recommended- BUT* Pro's: - Rogue like- in the sense of fight till death and lose items of run, but make some progress on tentacle/money and ship upgrade. I enjoy these. - whimsical art and controls are easy enough to enjoy. biggest pro for me* - no friendly fire - BUT you can interrupt your teammate- also a con- but i like the added realism/difficulty in my opinion. CONS: -no saves.. like at all! - if you plan to play with a friend online, you WILL have to either make a new game in online mode, or steamshare which negates any achievement game for the sharee* - Two player only! - the ship has four slots for cannons.. only two player makes little sense and actively makes me want to play less knowing i have several friends who would have bought just for the 4player shipness. - cannot buy extra cannons, - it's one cannon per person -period, so being a two player game you will have two empty slots always. I get that it's so you can move your cannon, but if the cannon orientation was part of the ship maintenance portion- this would resolve it so i could plan to have one automated turret each side and two grapshots ect. long of the short- fix multiplayer, add a savegame function so i'm not losing all my gear (as if i died) and i'd easily rate a 5/5. till then, 4/5 as i like it but not interested in going back without friends.

I've never played a Roguelike or Roguelite before, and had low expectations when I bought the game, and was mostly interested in playing a new co-op game. The game starts off brutal, with a very steep learning curve, but once you get a hold of the basics it's great fun, especially with a friend. I am blown away by how much I enjoy the game, and although I never expect to play it as much as I do, the different lighthouse levels, new items and the different lighthouse challenges you need to complete with the ship add to a lot of replayability, and I cannot reccomend the game enough. Actual contender for one of the best games I've played this year. If you're able, get it on sale though; as I find the price of the game quite steep, but for ~$10 it was well worth the price.
