Fine game. I don't understand why there are so many negatives. Just another Vampire Survivors like.

After 11.1 hours of gameplay and earning 51% of the achievements, here's my honest take on Slime 3K: Rise Against Despot: 📝 TL;DR: I gave this game a thumbs-up, but only because there's no middle-ground option. Slime 3K has some neat mechanics and level variety, but it doesn't grip me like other games. I mostly play it when I'm bored and want to chase achievements, not because I'm particularly invested. 🧪 Gameplay: Slime 3K blends action, strategy, and deck-building in a quirky, chaotic environment. While the mechanics are functional, they never quite hit that fun sweet spot for me. 🌍 Level Variety: The game does feature a few unique levels, each with its own set of challenges. These differences keep the gameplay from feeling entirely repetitive, but they don't add enough depth to keep me fully engaged. 🃏 Deck-Building Aspect: I'm not a fan of games with deck-building mechanics, and Slime 3K leans into this quite a bit. For players who enjoy that genre, it might hit differently, but for me, it feels more like a grind than a feature. 🎯 Final Verdict: A decent time-waster if it's already in your library. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either—just a middle-of-the-road experience with some achievement-hunting appeal.

This is one of those "I obviously enjoyed myself BUT" games. The BUT being that this should almost be tagged as an action/combat puzzle game a bit more than it is, and I think that quirk of this game is what makes me question if I wanna recommend this or not. It's strange: They give you all the mechanics to explore and play around with a lot of unique tags, but more often throw you into maps where the only way to beat it is to figure out the very specific combat puzzle they've built for that map, limiting how you can ACTUALLY play. It comes off as counter-intuitive, almost: The mechanics for freedom squeezed, ironically, through a tight tube of the puzzle you're put in. Which, honestly, makes me think I CAN recommend this game, because at the very least? That comes off as intentional. It just isn't always something I want to sit down and twist about, is all. Having not played the prior Despot game, maybe that's just on me for not expecting their style, but I was a little surprised at the odd conflict of game mechanics. And it's not a full detraction, you can actually unlock open survival mode..aaaafter beating at least ten of said combat puzzles. So keep that in mind before buying, and I'd maybe wait for a sale. If you do buy, and find yourself a little stuck, keep in mind which maps you seem to gather your DNA metaprogression currency (I found myself replaying Map 9 a bit). Also, a little surprising bit of jitter, not sure how that'd impact Steam Deck users, I think possibly due to there not being a current option to disable damage numbers. That often seems to be what lags a lot of games like this, was surprised it wasn't there.

Good for its price, but definitely shouldn't be verified for steam deck, some levels go under 1 FPS just by the sheer amount of enemies, for example the last minute for level 10.
