This game is very fun. I like to see the combination of spells, disks, artifacts, etc. It is what I enjoy about ARPGs without all the BS. It kinda helps me fight the addiction of all the new games with time-abusing mechanics. This is a game that really helps me with that. I can do the tinkering without throwing away days and weeks. I can actually play it for an hour or even thirty minutes and have fun. I play it on the steam deck also. I made a custom keymapping for it. I can put the steamdeck down and get back to life, and pick it back up without needing to remember what I was doing. It is just fun. One thing I wish this had was a version to choose the spells like they have on Risk of Rain. I can never make the perfect build. And I would like to, but until then this is my little antidote from high-gambling-ARPGs. Thanks!

One of the better 0 to "God of Destruction" games I've played in a while. I thought the controls were a little stiff and the movement slow at first, but it was more me trying to play it like I'd play Hades or some other similar isometric. After a couple of runs and getting used to the Spell Disk system, I got used to what the game was trying to do and got hooked. Can't praise the fun of the Spell Disk mechanic enough. Shortish explanation is that you acquire disks that generate mana to auto-cast spells. The disks generate mana based on a variety of conditions:it certain attack types, when other spells go off, or even just being surrounded by enemies. Once you get a few floors in and have 2-3 d disks feeding into each other triggering their attached spells, you can start to see where things can go. The later floors have 8 or 9 disk/spell combos going, and the chaos is fantastic. There are some clear winners and losers when it comes to disks and spells, but you can get something workable on almost every run for the most part. Only restarts I really had were in later game content when you could tell you wouldn’t get the power ramp up fast enough to keep up with the difficulty modifiers. Only knocks I can think of are that the floor towers/biomes get a little stale after put several hours in, the enemy attack alerts and attack patterns kind of get lost in all the noise resulting in some cheap hits (especially in the late game), and it’s always an adjustment to get used to the character movement and dashing whenever I decide to come back for a run from time to time. This game is an easy recommendation if you like to tinker with and chase those OP/god-run builds. There’s also a Survivors-like mode that’s easy to dump some time into once you get done with the main content. PS: All hours were on Steam Deck and everything ran great. Could definitely hear the fans get going when all the spell chaos gets going, but no real issues to note. Only minor complaint on the Deck was that some of the disk/spell/artifact text was on the smaller side for me, but probably just getting old, heh.

a quick fun game for those who like crafting combinations to make your character as op as possible. Wish they added more costumes and weapons as well as more meta progression to make combinations as fun as possible.

As of 1.1: It lacks the depth or time one could spend in similar games such as Vampire Survivors, but makes up for it by giving you access to some wacky combinations and rewards your creativity. Whereas other games tend to pull back out of fear of you becoming overpowered, Spell Disk just kinda upnods and goes "Yeah, you'll have that." Could use a lot of tweaking, but that's to be expected from a game that just kind of lets you loose to do the wackiest junk. As updates come out and tweaks adjust the game play, I'd say this is a hidden gem that will only get better over time.

Spell Disk has a fun pixel art style, a soundtrack that adds to the ambiance, and fairly tight controls. A controller of some kind is a necessity as mouse/keyboard just doesn't feel right. On a personal level, I enjoy roguelikes most when you can basically become a god of destruction through smart combinations. And in Spell Disk I am become death, destroyer of worlds!
