I was so happy to find out that they remastered this PS2 classic for PC, they did a brilliant job. For those who are unaware I'd say this type of game is quite similar to Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. It leans more on the Spyro end of the spectrum. It is an A1 choice for anyone who likes the style and genre of that time period.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is a gem of a game. I love the mystery, the gameplay, and the fact that the game doesn’t hold your hand. It really gets the gears turning in your head, making the discovery of secrets and progression feel very rewarding.

Pro: It's like a 3D Legend of Zelda, only it's Egyptian, and Link and Zelda are both playable characters with their own sections. Very-well designed platforming puzzles. Cons: Playable characters don't have shadows. There are some missables, and if you save in the final area, you're STUCK there, so listen to the warning the game gives you and complete all the sidequests first!

Twenty years ago I hit the run-ending locked door bug and vowed never to waste my time with this game again... Now that I've wasted my time with this game again, it's a pretty solid puzzle game (the Mummy sections) grafted onto a lackluster action game. Some parts are inspired, some parts are tedious, and don't expect much from the plot - this was clearly intended to launch a franchise and it ends with a lot of loose ends. It runs fine, but it's one of those games that's really just OK in a lot of aspects. If you've got nostalgia for the era or just want to finally see the ending, hey, go for it - but if there was an "eh, maybe" recommendation I'd be choosing that.
