Absolutely gorgeous game. In most ways I feel that it improves even on the first game. I have to chuckle at the reviewers who say that the game has "too much dead air". Like, dudes... c'mon. The game is about soaking up the post-apocalyptic environment, on your own, journeying across a desolate, flooded planet. What were you expecting? Zombie attacks every 30 seconds?! It's no "Grand Tourismo", that's for sure. This is as much art as game. It's about journeying in the after-times. There's no rush.. nowhere to get to in a hurry. People say there's "about 50% of the game where nothing happens".. haha.. The times where there's "nothing" going on actually has a lot going on... But I suspect the reviewers missed it: You need to keep your sails at the right reach to get full speed You need to be keeping an eye out for obstacles in case you need to slam on the brakes You should be keeping an eye on the metal-detector for poachable salvage You should be listening to the lovely music You should be enjoying the scenery The game sets up the premise that you're just at the whim of the environment fairly early on. You get one free "do-over" when your boat gets mangled, and after that point you're just journeying "where the wind and tides take you". It's meant to be artistic and meditative, not stressful and hurried... Absolutely no zombie hordes, haha. What I loved most was that if you nip below decks while plying the high seas, you can see whales and fish swimming around in the ocean, which many will miss because they'll be above decks watching the clouds go by. No matter where you stand, there are things to see, things to do. Yes, it's a little slower paced than the first game, but the larger vessel and more dynamic scenery really plays into that, and you get the feeling of being all alone, just trying to get "somewhere". Much of the environmental "storytelling" happens in the background and in murals. There's not a huge amount of 'story' to be fair.... But if you look at the Heath Robinson ships and vehicles (Rube Goldberg to the murricans), you can see that others have tried to follow your path, with varying degrees of failure... The graphics are phenomenal... Easily Desktop-wallpaper material. The music is delightful and matches the scenery well, the sounds are really nicely done... From the clank-clank of the steel ropes on the rigging in the wind to the mournful cry of the whales. The puzzles are easy to do. They're more there to give you the feeling that stuff's been abandoned, and you need to put it back together to get it to work for you, but that this is probably the last time it'll get used. There's a sadness to it, in a way. An ending of the grandiosity, the beginning of the age of rust and ruin. I adored the first game, and I've adored the second. Massive recommendation to play it, and just take your time.. Enjoy the scenery.

Hello again, old friend. ---------------- Step 1: Put this one down. Step 2: Pick up Far - Lone Sails Step 3: Play that to the end. Step 4: Pick this one up. Step 5: Play this to the end. Step 6: Watch the beginning of the credits too. Another beautiful game made by Okomotive. Though, the story feels less captivating and personal than Lone Sails, it still does its job. ---------------- Some stuff: 1: Some people complain that there is not enough fuel and it can softlock you since you cannot pull the ship, like you could do with your okomotive in Lone Sails. But honestly, I am not sure what those people are doing. You get more than enough fuel. I guess they keep using the engine instead of the sails when wind is available. 2. There ARE some inconvenient things in the game, however. Like how you can only see the radar inside the ship but in order to properly see ahead, you have to stand at the nose of your ship. So, I had to constantly go back and forth, unable to enjoy some of the scenery. A sound cue would have been nice if the radar picked up something. Or how the ship wastes your fuel if you accidentally jump under the switch which pulls the fuel from the line into the burner, even if the burner is full or near full. Would have been nice if it did not use fuel if the burner is full or near full. 3. I encountered a bug twice where the radar showed something was under my ship or near it but nothing was there. The object either did not exist or spawned below the map.

I’ve played the previous game, as well as another title from the studio, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed, and this game does not disappoint. It’s similar to many cozy adventure games, comparable to Journey, so don’t expect an action-packed experience. This is something you’ll enjoy if you’re looking for a relaxing game with minimal puzzles. I liked how they tied the game back to the first one toward the end, and I’m looking forward to seeing more from the studio. For players thinking about picking it up, it’s a faily short experience and the price is reasonable. Please support the Devs and try out thier other games.

I think what I enjoy most about The FAR games is that they do something which I don't think most games do well anymore. I've been playing computer games now for over 37 years and the one thing that always makes me enjoy a game and remember them, is how much wonder they stir in me. These games have such distinct moments of wonder in them, they really are in a class all their own. For the price, they are beyond worth it, but speaking as someone that likes how certain games can introduce you to strange new worlds that are filled with things that only a video game is capable of- FAR has your ticket to ride. Hop aboard.

A uniquely quiet and meditative game that offers a refreshing break from typical action heavy titles. Set in a drowned world, it uses a lowpoly or simplistic visual style that’s beautiful in its minimalism and full of atmosphere. The core gameplay revolves around piloting and maintaining a ship through a flooded, abandoned world. There’s no combat here, just thoughtful puzzle solving, resource management, and the occasional bit of scavenging. It’s a slow paced but engaging experience that kept me constantly involved, especially in managing the ship. Keeping the engine running, adjusting the sails, solving puzzles. These tasks gave me purpose in an otherwise silent, lonely world. That sense of isolation is a big part of the game’s emotional weight. It feels solitary, even a little melancholic, but never boring. Managing the ship became something personal, it made me feel like survival depended on me doing my best. And so I did. The story unfolds mostly through the environment, with no dialogue at all. Despite that, or maybe because of it, the game builds to an ending that felt surprisingly meaningful and satisfying. I quite liked how it wrapped up, leaving me with a quiet sense of closure. I can see that this game isn’t for everyone, but if you enjoy slower, introspective games with a strong sense of atmosphere and purpose, it’s a memorable and worthwhile journey.
