A Cozy Little Cleanup Adventure Spilled is a short, cozy game about cleaning up waste from the ocean. The premise is simple and clear you control a small tugboat and clean different kinds of pollution like spilled oil, trash cans, and other waste to help restore marine life and the environment. As you progress, you upgrade your boat and unlock the ability to clean larger areas with different types of waste. It’s a pretty short experience overall and can be completed in just a little over an hour, but honestly, it leaves a good impression. Cleaning up the waste is surprisingly satisfying, and the atmosphere throughout the game is very relaxing and cozy. A portion of the game’s sales also goes to charity ( Whale and Dolphin Conservation in the UK), which makes the game even more worth supporting. The message behind the game is very clear. It reminds you how important ocean life is for all of us, and how carelessly we continue to destroy it by filling the oceans with waste and taking them for granted. One more thing that genuinely inspired me was the story behind the developer. The game was made by a solo dev named Lente , and from what I read, she paused her schooling and even bought a small boat to live on so she could fully focus on making Spilled . That honestly reminded me that all of us should try going after the things we truly want to do in life. Lente, if you are reading this you made a beautiful little game. I just wish there was more of it, and I really hope we get to see more from you in the future. Pros: [*]Relaxing and cozy atmosphere [*]Very satisfying cleanup gameplay [*]Simple but meaningful message [*]Cute art style and presentation [*]Supports a good cause through charity Cons: [*]short experience

it's a nice but short game, the game's price is low which is nice and the game itself is pretty fun and relaxing, but sadly it is pretty short takes ab an hour to fully finish the game which is a bit underwhelming. considering all said i would give it a solid 8/10 or more like 7.5 for the shortness

⚓ Spilled Review 🚤 A sweet little game that, in my opinion, was made to bring awareness to oil spills and waste in the sea. The pixel art style is a big win for me, I love pixel games. But the map is actually really beautiful and colourful, and I really loved the trees. On your boat you clean up oil spills, but you also rescue animals that are stuck. You clean trash and waste, such as bottles floating in the sea, but also barrels that are underwater. As you clean up you earn coins to get upgrades, such as speed for your ship or a bigger tank to hold more oil to sell. I loved the piano music in the game, it was very relaxing. I also found cleaning up the oil spill very satisfying for my OCD. I did however find that sometimes taking the trash to the recycling centre could be a bit annoying. Occasionally bottles would pop out of your cleaning scoop at the front of the ship, and when I tried to reverse to get the bottles back in, they would get stuck behind the scoop. Just a tiny nitpick though lol! However, as cute and relaxing as the game was, it was sadly super duper short, and the map is quite small too. It took me about an hour to complete. I would have loved a longer version with bigger map areas and more upgrades! But the game does say it’s short, so I think that was the idea. It’s also a cheap game, so I can’t really complain there. Achievement wise, the game is also very easy to 100%, which is nice if you enjoy completing games fully. Amazing game all in all, I loved it. I really enjoy games that bring to light the problems affecting sea life, and I love sea animals a lot. I was also super happy that there was an otter to rescue. Clean up the sea, friends! ♻️ Tip: If you want to find more reviews like this, check out our curator page [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/41527689/]Moon's Tea House

This is a very short game (an hour!) that is 1000% worth the cost of a coffee. Do you want a little experience that makes you feel calm? Do you want to feel like you are able to make a small difference in the world for even just an hour - like your actions can directly lead to cleaner and better life for us and our neighbors in the seas and lakes of the world? Do you want to feel the pure satisfaction of making things and the world clean? If you said yes to any of those questions, then this is a game for you. Extra bonus is that this game plays perfectly on Steam Deck and is an excellent game to play in bed as you unwind before sleepy times.

Short or small games can often receive a bad rap due to the misconception that their lack of length equals a lack of content. Spilled! is a game that proves the contrary, as while it is a game you can reasonably finish in a single sitting, its lovely visuals, soothing audio, and greatly satisfying gameplay of cleaning up bodies of water hit all the right points for me. It stumbles with its finale and finicky gathering up of floating bottles, but those are small hitches in an otherwise pleasant experience. Spilled! has you in the role of a cleanup boat that cleans local waters from the byproducts and oils left behind by a polluting industry, going from area to area after cleaning up most of the mess. Initially, this is done by steering the boat's brush to soak up spilled oil, and once full, dropping it off at a recycling vessel. This earns you money that can be cashed in for upgrades: speed upgrades let you maneuver the boat faster, brush size increases the area you can clean at once, and capacity upgrades allow you to collect more waste before having to return to unload. Later mechanics and cleaning up more than just oil (plastic bottles and discarded barrels) are introduced over time, along with side objectives for additional money. If Spilled! sounds simple and straightforward, that's because it is. The only real nuance to the game is controlling the boat effectively to clean up messes with as few laps as possible. That said, it's an optional nuance to learn: Since there's no time limit, it doesn't matter if you're a cleaning whiz or need to make multiple passes. It's beneficial to clean 100% of each region for two reasons: Firstly, the upgrades you can buy are very beneficial for efficiency's sake, while secondly, Spilled!'s artwork is an absolute dream to look at. Steadily turning the sullied, messy waters and being able to see the sea life underneath until it's back to its crystal-clear blue vibrance is very satisfying. The surroundings as well, with cliffsides, mesas and grassy fields when combined with the natural ambiance, make for an ASMR-like auditory-visual experience. The soundtrack, subdued and sporadic as it is, helps to lend to the pleasantries with plucking piano/synths and other instrumentation depending on the area. On starting the game, it’s going to take a hot minute before you start feeling effective. The boat controls are simple and can be played with one hand (if on keyboard), with the only real active challenge coming from the aforementioned plastic bottles. They’re scooped up with the brush, but the floatiness of, well, floating on water can often bump bottles away and into awkward positions around or against corners. As mentioned, the lack of a time limit doesn’t mean this is the end of the world, but if you’re like me and want to clean up every spec? It can get a bit irksome. Naturally, the later upgrades to speed and brush size make coralling bottles and performing other goals easier and more efficient. *Spoilers ahead for the finale* The only places Spilled! truly stumbles is with its finale, being a 'boss battle' that feels out of place and counterintuitive to the game’s theme. You’re tasked with battling a large, polluting ship which boils down to chasing it (with enough speed upgrades) or waiting for it to pass and ladening it with water enough until it becomes too heavy and sinks. Considering the whole premise of the game is to get garbage out of the waters instead of adding to it, the boss feels like it’s ticking off a checkmark of gaming requisites rather than being a natural way to end the game. *End of spoilers* I finished my playthrough of Spilled in just under fifty minutes, which for the price tag of $7.79 (CAD) feels just right. The game’s pleasing visuals, audio and loop of cleaning up bodies of water meant I finished it in one sitting, with it feeling like more time had passed. The lack of post-game (excluding an area select option) left me wanting for other ways to play, with the only real replay value coming in the form of trying out different upgrade combinations or speedrunning. I didn’t encounter any performance issues or glitches, except for very brief loading pauses when transitioning from one area to another. For such a small game that itched my brain in the right spots, Spilled! gets a recommendation.
