I bought this game in a bundle with Verde, and while neither game took me longer than a few hours to complete, each sucked me right in. The mechanics of the game are simple: place plants where they're happy (near humidity, sunshine, either both or only one of these), and try to place them by other plants they love. The story was heartwarming and relaxing, and I cannot wait for new DLC's to possibly be added!
I really enjoyed this game - up to a point. It's fun, I like the plant mechanics, I like the way they have different likes, I think the story is cute! I enjoyed this game! I would recommend it! However, in saying that, I have one gripe that made me really dislike the later levels - Humidity. Light for the most part was fine more of less, but humidity made me frustrated. There are very limited spots for humidity in the game and even less for humiditiy and light, which meant I was forced to place plants in very small huddled groups most of the time. I think it would be fine if less plants needed humidity, or if there was at least one more (movable) object that provided humidity like there is with light (ie, the man lamps around the various places mc lives) but for humidity, even in the final level I felt it was more of an annoyance and unintentional oversight rather then something that was put in the game with intent
I played the demo for less than 10 minutes before knowing that I was purchasing this game. Great deal for the price - there is a lot to the game, with room for free play as well if you don't feel like following the story or finish it. Love the detail and information on the plants, the variety of plants, and the limit to how many you can place at a time in story mode (as in, you have to place the ones you have before getting like.. 10 more) Devs should have spent more time focusing on things such as placement of pieces, overlapping items, picking things up with both R and L MB but also using those buttons to navigate (so... unintentionally reorganizing when you're just trying to move), etc. Plants will say they have light and then randomly don't have light anymore, other small bugs. However, this really doesn't impact the game play *too* much. Overall, definitely recommend if you enjoy a cozy plant game with a slight puzzley twist.
I loved "Unpacking", and this game really reminds me of that game. You get to unpack some things that you own but also plant flowers and plants to spruce up your home. I liked the art style, and the cosy vibe I get from the game. There are 11 chapters in total, and it's great to sort of "grow up" with the main character. I loved figuring out the best placements for plants and flowers. On the downside, this game is not appropriate for the Steam Deck, which was what I played on last night. I binged through the game on the Deck because I didn't want to get up and go to my PC. It's playable, but the controller support just isn't great and I had to figure out what buttons do what on my own, which was took a lot of trial and error. There are also so many details in this game that won't show up well on the Deck's small screen. So, to enojy this game to the fullest, you have to play on a desktop. It would be cool to get Deck support in the future, but otherwise, it's not really a dealbreaker, imo. If you want to play something relaxing and cosy, this is a good game to try out.
