buy on sale and enjoy the story, Ea being the evil corporation it is abandoned the game shortly after it released and truly left what could have been a gem in the dustbin of gaming history. As a star wars fan this game is worth it for the ability to fly a x wing and a tie interceptor in vr with immersive combat and a really good singe player campaign.

While clearly created by people who know what they’re doing, Star Wars Squadrons never felt like it quite got out of tech demo territory for me. It has a relatively short campaign that, while it has some decent variety, ultimately fell flat and was pretty uninspiring. Technically, the game is extremely impressive; the spacescapes look gorgeous, the ships are lovingly detailed, and the game runs excellently. Everything sounds how you want it to sound and it does the Star Wars thing. But playing both sides of the story, often with scenes that look like they’re identical save for some model and texture swaps, leads to a story that ultimately goes nowhere. Moreover, it’s pretty clear that this was geared to be game primarily played online, grinding out the ranks, and I think it was a huge misstep to prioritize this — which harkens back to the space shooters of the 90s — as a live service game. So, if you love Star Wars or have fond memories of X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Descent, and Wing Commander, you’ll probably find something to enjoy here. It’s disappointing that because of what feels like some poor business choices that this game couldn’t quite live up to its potential.

I got this for less than $2 during the Star Wars Day sale. That said, this was a fun six hours for the story mode! The difficulty curve is steep and frustrating at first, but once you get a handle on the controls the missions are quite fun. It's a shame that more wasn't put into the SP campaign since the MP mode is basically dead--I might have put more hours into this if I could unlock more cosmetics or play new missions, even ones disconnected from the main story, without multiplayer. Would recommend if you can get it on sale and like flight sims.

Pros: I had a lot of fun with it playing though the story since we haven't really had something like a dedicated Star-wars flight sim in a long while. While its basically the flying from Battlefront 2 with a few extra bells and whistles its far from terrible and is visually pretty good, particularly when playing in first person. Cons: Its basically abandoned now, last update of any kind was several years ago and as far as I know the multiplayer is basically dead. Which is a pity because both the B-wing and Tie-defender that they added later are ONLY in the multiplayer, making them useless unless you want to play multiplayer against bots which grows stale quickly. Overall opinion: Not absolute trash but at the point where your best off buying it cheap in a sale, playing though the story and then never really touching it again. Not a bad game and enjoyable while it lasts but lacks any staying power once you finish the story and get tried of stomping bots.

I have played only singleplayer VR and I wholeheartedly recommend this game, but only when it's on sale. I was absolutely blown away by the graphics, the level of details in the cockpit. Flying around in my ship, engaging in fights is so exciting in VR! I am not even a Star Wars fan. Heck, I haven't even watched most of the Star Wars movies. Only know a little bit of the lore. But I still am having lot of fun. But that game is not without its flaws though. The initial set up in VR was pain. Had to update some game files to turn off HDR. There is no settings in menu to turn it off. Cutscenes in VR was broken totally. Had to change setting from fullscreen to borderless window. The game doesn't support VR controller (Meta Quest 3), so had to use XBox controller. But it's totally worth it if you get it on sale.
