Completing the game confirmed what I had thought ever since it was announced two years ago: the only reason this remake exists is to capitalize on nostalgia and the series' popularity, given MAGES' financial situation. I didn't expect significant plot changes and, all things considered, I'm glad there weren't any; I believe the story is perfect as it is, and I feared they might somehow ruin it. Since this series is really important to me personally, I decided to buy the game at full price to play it right at launch, and I really enjoyed revisiting the atmosphere of 2010 Akihabara and the Future Gadget Laboratory. I won't lie, the new visuals feel a bit odd, mainly due to them being brighter when compared to the original and I’m not personally a fan of Live2D; however, I got used to it as the game progressed. The art style has changed significantly, and many beautiful new CGs have been added so, while the original retains its charm and remains my preference, the new visuals look pretty nice too. The voice acting is pretty good but sometimes the audio quality drops for some reason so eh, i felt as some scenes conveyed less emotion or energy than the original, but given that the title came out nearly twenty years ago, it's understandable. The main tracks are the same as in the 2009 version, with the exception of the BGM, which was remastered by Takeshi ♥♥♥ himself. I have to admit I would have liked to hear a few new tracks from Kanako Ito or PHANTASM, though perhaps that might not have been possible. Regardless, I think this is better than relying on a random singer to just churn out new songs half-assedly. So, do I recommend this game to newcomers looking to get into the series? Not really: the price isn't worth it, and the original remains the best way to experience the story, given that some text was cut in this version (and no technovision ( ̄ヘ ̄;) ). Also, I wouldn't recommend buying the game at full price if you're just interested in Moeka's new route, since it lasts like 30min being a "bad" ending and all, just listen to the drama cd imo. I had fun playing the game, but I'd say you aren't missing out on anything special if you decide not to 乁 ˘ o ˘ ㄏ. tbh just wait for the sale It was nice seeing my wife again in the year of our lord 2026 desu

I decided to buy the game simply because I'm a huge Steins;Gate fan To get the most obvious thing out of the way, the game surely IS overpriced considering that this is mostly not an original story and moreover it's an Elite-ver. truncated story. But I was aware of that before buying so I guess it didn't really leave a huge impact on my general opinion about it. On the contrary, I think I ought to analyze the game more thoroughly given how much I’ve invested in it. Unlike Elite, I think the reboot actually looks really nice. I absolutely love the introduction of Live2Ds, probably the most noticeable change, it's done properly with a huge set of varying emotions for each character. And the motions doesn't look too excessive, just the right amount. The updated designs also look cute and fresh and, most importantly for me, they tried to keep the general concept of original VN's art style where you can see different kind of textures on their clothes and hair which I find very interesting. Also cannot forget about the eyes. Those eyes are probably one of my favorite details in the game. I especially love Faris's, Ruka's and Suzuha's new designs, probably even more than the original ones but I can't really describe why, just a notion. And I cannot say anything bad about Kurisu simply because she is my wife and I love her. On the other hand I think Mr. Braun got a little downgrade. He looks much less intimidating now and feels just like when JoJos stopped being ridiculously buffed at some point. The same goes for Rounders gang, my boys lost all the aura but at least still better than in the anime. The background design I think has gotten worse but not in terms of quality. I love how the original game really felt like you are in a hot and dump late-summer Akihabara (I've never been there but still). But now they decided to choose more cold colors and this decision isn't really to my preference. Though I'm glad they kept the worn-down like design and added some scratched and glitched out parts here and there, makes it look unique. The Observer's functionality looks pretty neat as well, it is usefull to see and compare timestamps of certain events in different worldlines. Don't remember seeing this stuff in the original game, at least not accurate to this extent. Finally, the new Gamma worldline ending is in form that I can actually play. Was never interested in drama CD but I am glad they adapted it here. Not a fan of endings like that though. The original content also includes references to Steins;Gate 0 during main route. Not to spoil, but it was unexpected to hear a certain character in the main game especially on the Alpha worldline. There is no really anything else I can add. I mean it's a reboot of a visual novel. So if you've played the original game before, there is nothing much to do here. But if you happen to be a newbie or an anime watcher AND you have money then I guess the reboot isn't really a bad choice especially if you don't like to read a lot. And I still laugh at the same jokes I heard in the first game, they never get old. In conclusion I will repeat myself. I love Makise Kurisu! The best genius tsundere assistant there is and to ever be! El Psy Kongroo

WOW 10/10 BEST GAME EVER NO BIAS just buy and play the original though, the difference isn't that meaningful to warrant the price. I'm only buying this to support the devs and keep sci;adv alive.
