April 2026
Came here after IGP. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, even though it's just me replaying what I saw in the playthrough. What I feel happened, is that people expected another liminal "horror" where you meaninglessly walk around Backrooms, pretending something is hunting you, or something is really crawling around. And that's it. This game is different in its core, and I value its evoking ideas, design, atmosphere and escaplessness. - Graphics are incredible beyond measure, nothing lagged even for a second, it is optimised and of high quality. - Incredibly immersive and fun to play, as well as a bit scary; however, it's hard to scare me in video games, I appreciate the fear it brings up in me, as well as the unsettling side effects. - Puzzles, even simplified, were really making me think. I wish I could change game versions for puzzles to be more puzzling. - Smile is indeed slower than the release version, and again I wish I could set the difficulty, or the version of the game to be more challenging. Storywise, the game is still wrecking my psyche with attention to details and the deepness of the story the developers are telling. I only can wonder what to expect in Episode 2. 9.0/10, I can say I really like the game, and I wish the developers all the luck and firmness to continue making an immersive, interesting and incredibly captivating story.

I don't understand all the negative reviews of this game. I feel that people are so confused about what this game is. This is a puzzle game set in a liminal space. This is not a liminal game with puzzles in it. And it really stressed me out that the developer was bullied so bad they had to go in and dumb down all of the puzzles. I love this game. I think this was absolutely perfect for what it is and what they said it was going to be. It is not the developer's fault if people are clueless about what this game is. If you are looking for a puzzle game set in liminal spaces and lots and lots of secret hidden goodies to expand on the story, this is your game. If you want a game where all you do is get chased by a monster in a liminal space, this ain't for you. There are so many of those (clones of each other) games elsewhere on steam. But for people to bad mouth the game because they were confused is just stupid.

I fail to understand the hate behind this game. It's clear that so much love, passion, and devotion, went in to making this. It's not like the developers aren't listening either. They made a patch as soon as they heard puzzles may be too difficult to enjoy the game. It's an absolutely amazing experience, and my heart goes out to every individual who worked tirelessly creating such a masterpiece. Good game.

Alright i dont usually write reviews for anything but i think this game is getting WAY too much hate. Are there areas they can improve on? yeah probably. but calling it an awful game is kinda wild. I see a lot of people complaining about the puzzles being dumb and too difficult to figure out, but to me, thats on you. I was able to figure out all the puzzles pretty fast and didnt get stuck on anything. IMO people just dont like to actually think anymore so gg. The chase scenes also arent as bad as people saying. unless u are just clueless, you can pick up on where to go/what do to relatively quick. Maybe you have to restart a few times at most, but at the end of the day it is NOT that bad. listen, maybe its just me, but i think people are just complaining that this game is too hard bc they dont wanna think anymore i personally think this game is pretty good. im not going to lie and say its a 10/10, but i can say 100% that this game is not as bad as SO many people are saying

I love this game. I think it gets a lot of hate because of how frustrating the trial and error chase scenes can be. But people saying the puzzles are too difficult I feel like just want their hand held through horror games. I agree sometimes the difficulty of puzzles in horror games can take away from the scary moments, but I don't think that applies in this game. They're a little difficult but it's the type of puzzles that make you go "ohhhh" and then realize you were overthinking it and it was in your face the whole time. I think there's value in games challenging you to use your brain. But besides all that, I think the story is extremely interesting. It leaves on cliffhangers for most of the endings, but that's because it's episodic. It will more than likely elaborate in the next episodes, but people are impatient and want immediate satisfaction and closure which I can also understand. But there's a bunch of symbolism and hints to what happened in the story, especially if you find some of the secrets off the beaten path of the game. And I feel like I don't even need to say anything about the graphics, sound design and all the stuff that makes it look nice, because you can't deny that it's incredible. Overall, I genuinely think the game is getting way too much hate and is way better than people are giving it credit for. It's a game that is Backrooms styled but is a completely different take on the genre. It's a breath of fresh air from the usual Backrooms style of liminal spaces and just finding ways to escape and survive an entity. It explores into the psychological genre with a unique story about the subconscious of young boy where some traumatic event happened while also including the nostalgic and liminal feelings while also having a Stanley Parable style. So yeah, I never leave reviews but I felt like I needed to say something about this one considering all the mixed reviews.
