The light point-and-click gameplay and quick time events initiated by combat are a bit simplistic, but to focus on them would be missing the point. Each of Sword and Sworcery's four chapters are framed as sequential therapy sessions, and I think that says something about the kind of game it is trying to be: the visuals, soundscape, and familiar narrative all support a meditative experience similar to that offered by games like Journey or Abzû . Still, some elements contribute more than others. Sword and Sworcery first released on smartphone and tablet devices, and a few puzzles do not translate well to a keyboard and mouse. I was also disappointed when the Dark and Bright Moon Trigons were revealed to be near carbon copies of the Golden Trigon battle. Overall, though, Sword and Sworcery presents a wonderfully immersive setting sufficient for a few hours of laid-back adventuring. With that in mind, $7.99 would be a high asking price (it's $3.99 on iOS) were it not for the other half of the title: the EP ! Though it's buried several lines into the description, this release includes the game's full OST. Some personal favorites include the tracks "Under a Tree", "Activating Trigons", and "Little Furnace". If you like chiptune-style melodies, this might be worth your time for the album alone.

The first game I ever bought on Steam and I am finally writing a review for it. I love the atmosphere and music in this game. I would be constantly stopping so I could just admire the graphics.

I think CDN$ 8.79 is worth the music alone the game is a bonus. With that said it was initially released for iOS devices. Is it a short game? "yes" Is there combat? "Kinda but it's slow" What's it like? "That you are playing/watching a music story with lame hipster dialog" What stands out? "that it fallows the moon cycle, so it can be a waiting game if you don't want to cheat. Can I beat it in one sitting "Sure, but it's an IOS game meant to in many sittings Also moon cycle makes you wait." I enjoyed it when it came out, still listen to the soundtrack good for table top role playing games. Would Recommend.

I've always liked this game since it first came out. It's ... weird. A bit slow, but it has a very unique charm. I would categorize this as one of those games, where you need an open mind to experience it. You will not find a story like Undertale, or the action of Hollow Knight. I'd describe the experience more akin to watching a musical, depicting a strange world, and the hero doesn't really know to make sense of it and following one step after the other.

Sword and Sworcery is an interesting game to come back to all these years later after I initially played it on mobile when I was a child. On the one hand, the graphics and soundtrack are still beautiful, and overall I would say I enjoyed the experience- on the other, it's MASSIVELY dated in some places. Some of the lolsorandom and early 2010s-era hipster humor dialogue makes me want to actually die, and though this can't be helped since it was initially designed for mobile, some of the moment to moment gameplay can be a bit dull. Fights are laughably easy save for maybe the third Trigon and the puzzles can be solved by clicking around enough- though depending on the person that might not be a bad thing since it allows you to focus on experiencing the story more. It's also very short, taking me just 3 hours to 100%, so for $8 it is a slightly steep price... but honestly the presentation is good enough that I can excuse it in this case. Overall I'd recommend it, just be aware of what you're getting into. It's a 2-3ish hour game from 2012, and in some places its age really shows.
