🔦 Gameplay & Mechanics The standout feature is the voice recognition system, which allows you to interact with the ghost via microphone input. It’s a clever and immersive mechanic that adds a unique twist to the gameplay. That said, it could use some fine-tuning—responses to common phrases like “I’m here to help” often go unrecognized, and it’s not always clear what phrases are expected. A brief tutorial or even just a cheat sheet could go a long way here. There’s also an intriguing “behind you” mechanic, which works well to heighten tension, but could benefit from some constraints during cutscenes or dialogue-heavy moments where it feels out of place. The microphone monster encounters were genuinely tense, but the rules for surviving them aren't very clearly explained. Over time, I learned to stay silent and aim the flashlight, but that took some frustrating trial and error. Exploration is mostly linear, and while some sections are a bit repetitive—particularly when hunting for clues or passwords—it’s fun to anticipate the next eerie encounter. The lack of feedback when you've found everything in an area can lead to aimless wandering on replays. A subtle cue or line from the protagonist would be helpful here. 👻 Atmosphere & Scares This is where Supernormal shines. The jump scares are well-placed and effective, especially when playing alone with headphones. The sound design is excellent and contributes significantly to the tension. The graphics are surprisingly impressive, with great use of lighting, shadows, and depth of field. Animations, especially those involving the ghost, are creepy and well-executed. However, the game could use more random or emergent events to maintain tension throughout the house. After a while, some areas feel too quiet, which slightly undercuts the overall suspense. 📝 Narrative The story is arguably the weakest part of Supernormal. The writing and dialogue feel underdeveloped and at times detract from the immersive horror atmosphere. In fact, removing the spoken lines and focusing more on environmental storytelling might improve the overall experience. The protagonist's constant comments when finding clues can be grating, and unfortunately, there's no way to skip or mute them. That said, the twist toward the end is disturbing and memorable, giving the story some weight, even if the delivery is uneven. Final Thoughts: Supernormal is a short but enjoyable horror experience that’s clearly made with passion. Despite a few rough edges, it delivers effective scares, impressive visuals, and a couple of mechanics that elevate it above many indie horror titles. If you're into mystery horror and enjoy a good fright, it's absolutely worth checking out—especially to support an ambitious solo developer who’s clearly onto something great. Score: 7.5/10 – Creepy, clever, and flawed in just the right ways to make you excited for the developer’s next project. —The Ember Archives https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45601239/

Honestly a very beautifully executed horror game for the $3 price tag i bought it at. It almost reminisces Silent Hill P.T. graphics with its very sharp corners and it's singular long hallway upstairs! The game isn't too difficult by all means and very simple to progress through (if it doesn't take you 40 minutes to figure out how to turn off a light like me ofc). Overall i'd recommend this game for the price tag i bought it at to anyone looking for a quick scare or something to stream like I did! 9/10 Atmosphere 7/10 Jumpscares 8/10 Story
