A solid multi-genre game wrapped in a crusty exterior. At first glance this game looks like a high school project or an asset flip but its an a amazing game with whole load of mechanics under the skin. Its hard to characterise this game as it has aspects of party CRPG, RTS, base building, and survival games. There are a whole load of mechanics here such as: - quests - skills - detailed inventory - health / water / food / sleep bars - a two axis relationship system (respect & like) - base building - farming - a command system It even has nice little touches, like NPCs searching out and buying food from neighbours when they run out. I was thorougly impressed once I started playing and felt I got great value from this relatively cheap game.

It's better than it seems. A simple but well made survival game where you have to build your base and keep your survivors alive. You get to meet other people which might be recruitable or not, there are other factions, some more friendly than others. Basically build, fight, survive.

The developer deserves major respect for releasing a patch that supports the Steam Deck and allows playing on Linux. The game itself is a hidden gem, sloppy but nice. There's something almost spiritual about the way it captures survival and human interaction.

I tried to get into it several times, and on my final successful attempt finally got to enjoy this game. It's ugly but charming.

This is a good post-apocalyptic zombie survival builder game. You'll meet lots of characters with different personalities, and many of them will have backstories to delve into. Most of them will belong to various good, neutral, or evil factions. There's also an overall story to the game, You are Joe, a fairly wealthy guy, who built a bunker in the desert just in case SHTF during your lifetime. Well, one year ago it did... in the form of a zombie apocalypse. Now your food supplies are running low, so you finally emerge to see what the world is like. Meet new people, and try to recruit them to follow you. Scavenge for new supplies, and build your own little survivor compound. Choose to either try to get along with the other factions you come across, or try to conquer them. Defend you and your group against bandits and raiders. Barter when you can. And for maximum entertainment, blow up buildings. I'm not really a fan of the top-down camera, and waiting for your people to complete tasks, like Isham collecting wood planks to build stuff with, can be very tedious. If you take the diabetic Alice into your group, then constantly needing to find her some insulin can also be a grind. It makes for a good challenge, yes, but it's still a grind. The game also feels like a 90's game to me. Some of the zombies are slow, and some are real speedsters. I don't like the speedsters, as they often come racing into view from nowhere. They cover the distance between them and me so fast that I don't have time to respond, especially if there's more than one of them. Lastly, I find the controls a little clunky. Overall though, this game is definitely worth the 99 cents I paid for it.
