I'm big into traditional roguelikes and I've been enjoying this heavily. Not super far in, but it's been well worth the entry fee. Seems like it would be well suited for a beginner, but there's also enough depth where I'm already pretty engaged. I use keyboard controls and they've been good. Very heavily customizable too but default is also good. Also love the character Class/Job system. Lots of really interesting tools to build characters with.

God, it's so good, Beautiful, funny, unique, the pet system is perhaps a draw but perhaps provides too much risk for some, honestly a fave of mine, though, for context, I'm a total slut for pixelart, somewhat of a furry(I promise, it's as weird as an old-school disney movie, just characters that happen to be animals, I know that term brings a lot of things to people's minds, but some it's a far broader thing than society at large considers it to be, sorry for this long sidebar, I just don't want to scare asnyone off from a beautiful, funny game that I have, and still adore, through and through, though I've taken a long hiatus from playing it due to a computer upgrade and all the process that is...)and have been a diehard roguelike fan since... I guess, The binding of Isaac: Rebirth came out(November 2014)? Also melt for games with good soundtracks. Tl;dr; funny, beautifully stylized and unique, replayable af with a host of self-imposed difficulty options and playstyles. I promise, it's worth every penny, and getting a sequel (asoon?) too!

It's a solid game but some of its systems don't really mesh with how short it is. I felt no real need to engage with the pet system, and the item dreams have a lot depth when it comes to skill extraction, but that is completely unnecessary to get into by the time the credits are rolling.

Perfect game for anyone who loved Chocobo's Dungeon yet wanted something more involved out of it; something more adult-oriented (as in, you don't feel like you're playing something made for very little children). It's hard to explain, but Chocobo's Dungeon felt like not only could there have been a lot more to compliment the gameplay loop, but that the overall design was purposefully dumbed down so that the littlest child could enjoy (and they were like "adults too, I guess.... If you'd like?") My Chocobo's Dungeon issues aside: this game is phenomenal if you're looking for this specific kind of gaming itch to have scratched. The Pokemon like collecting and leveling your monster pets is fantastic and there's a lot of focus on true, meaningful progression. I have 15.8 hours on Steam from way back in 2018 when this released, but keep in mind too that I've also put 50+ hours in on the Nintendo Switch version of this game (due to my Laptop ultimately giving up on letting me play games way back then.) You literally can't go wrong with this title for $15.00. If you can get it on sale? I dare anyone to say they didn't get a quality title for their money. You won't be disappointed. That is, assuming you enjoy these kinds of games in the first place. 8.5 out of 10 in my honest opinion. I've yet to play another title in the exact same vein that has done this better. Lastly: this game can get difficult too! Bravo Impact Gameworks.
