It's not as good as Paper's, Please but it does scratch the same itch better than just about another other game I've played other than Not Tonight. Despite recommending the game, I'd actually like to go over things I didn't like about it first: Characters and player speaking at the start of every interaction So you know how in Papers Please, the people would come in and sometimes say random story related stuff automatically without you clicking anything? This meant that even while they're talking and you're mostly paying attention to what they're saying, you can still get their documents sorted on the table in preparation to check them so it didn't feel like a total waste of time to read what they were saying. Well, in this game, they come in and always say random non-story related stuff that you have to manually click through before they will even give you their documents. Sometimes you even have to click thrilling responses to their comments on the weather such as: "Hmm..." or "haha, yeah". Don't forget that you are still on the clock while reading their dialogue so you're losing that ever precious time while reading that lavender is their favorite smell. If you're like me, you'll feel like you're wasting time listening to their blabber and just skim or skip it until they give you the goods. My favorite character was one that refused to speak and even then I had to click "..." as a response to them not talking. This is probably the games weakest feature as it gives you no real reason to listen to what they're saying but still forces you to click through their dialogue regardless. Characters I think the dialogue before every interaction is meant to flesh out the characters since you have the same people coming to the bank everyday but they are all extremely one-dimensional so once you've seen one sentence of their dialogue, you understand the character. This wouldn't be a bad thing if the game didn't try to insist on giving them depth. These guys will come in and randomly ask you to go drinking or gambling or dancing. I had a guy ask me to do an activity I've never heard of in my life. I agreed to meet him after work and he said, "oh, did you bring an *item I've never heard of before*? No? Oh, okay, you can borrow my spare *item I've never heard of before*... oh wait. It's broken. Sorry. We'll do it next time." And that's it. That's the whole interaction. That is literally the last time you ever hang out with that guy. He will never ask you to hang out again and he will not bring up this event again if you see him in the bank. It's the most bizarre and random interaction ever and most other character 'hang outs' are not better. You'll have certain characters speak to you as if you're closer than some random bank employee that they see for 30 seconds every 2nd day and it's so jarring and confusing. Some of these guys will treat you like you're a close friend who has listened to and counseled them through the hardest moments of their life and they just want to tell you that you're awesome and their favorite smell is lavender and- DUDE , I am trying to process people so I can get paid and feed myself and my family so please just GIVE ME YOUR BANK DOCUMENTS! Story Like the characters, not great. The actual plot is meh and it's got grand ideas of your ability to shape the story of the entire country through your actions similar to Paper's, Please but doesn't do a great job of giving you any meaningful actions to take other than dialogue options. Perhaps the best example of your inability to effect the story was with a side character that actively hurts other characters. The game flaunts this fact in front of you and you are given no course of action you can take to stop them. He doesn't effect the main story but he does have an 'arc' so minor spoilers: There's this slimy thief character in the game. He steals stuff, sells it, and then deposits the profits into the bank. A cop character will mention trying to catch this character and other people will even comment that someone (matching the thief character's description) stole a very specific item from them. The thief character will then come in and attempt to pawn off that very specific item. You are given no meaningful action that you can take to deal with this guy until, eventually, another character says he thinks he knows who the thief is and wants to catch him. "I'd like to help." you tell that character and he tells you to meet him after work. You do and he pulls the Uno Reverse card on you and reveals that he is working with the thief and is then literally going to kill you with a knife but has a bout of diarrhea and threatens you to not tell anyone before running away. This is all played as a joke in the game a la 'haha, he poopy his panties.' This is despite the fact that the thief character is extremely unlikeable, is the only character actively hurting those around him (other than the government people themselves obviously) and he sent someone to, and I cannot stress this enough, LITERALLY KILL YOU. The game gives you a gun. You can't shoot the guy when he threatens you with a knife. The game puts a cop character in front of you multiple times who only ever talks about catching this guy. You cannot tell them anything. Your only satisfaction is rejecting him every time he walks into the bank from that point on. The game does not acknowledge this in anyway (other than the citations it would give you for rejecting anyone with proper documentation) but it eases the pain slightly. Counterfeit money This is pretty much the only actual gameplay part of the game that doesn't work well. Basically, it's tedious but not in an entertaining way like the rest of the gameplay is. You will have to manually move individual sets of bills to certain parts of the screen, then reach over and flip the UV switch, then scan, then flip the switch again, then exit. Its worst sin is if the amount someone tries to deposit is exceptionally large (1500+) then when you grab your sets of 100s and place them somewhere, they will not fit on the screen in a way that you can actually scan them properly. Which means you would need to move each individual bill to a different part of the screen to scan it. This is tedious, annoying, and not worth your time. When this happens, you are better off just guessing on whether to accept or reject them, take the citation if you're wrong, and move on. Broken money counter I just want to rant about this one. At one point your money counter breaks and you have to count the money by hand. Eventually the counter gets fixed and the game just straight up doesn't tell you this. I just randomly put money in it one time and was surprised to find that it was now working. I have no idea how many in game days I played before I discovered that it got fixed. This is something that can easily be fixed in a patch with a 'counter fixed' note so not a huge deal Summary Despite all those issues I mentioned above, I'd still recommend this game if you're getting it for the same gameplay you enjoyed in Paper's Please or Not Tonight. The story is just a vehicle to get you into the gameplay and, though this game's story is weaker than the others, it still does a serviceable job. Don't expect to make a lot of little impacts outside of the main story based off what people tell you. You can change what kind of ending you get through major story dialogue and that's about it. Enjoy what you got the game to do: Tedious checking of bank documents as quickly and efficiently as possible and you'll have fun.

I like the game. It is a bank version of Papers Please but with a lot less stress. There is stress just not as much as Papers Please. The cat is a lovely touch. I might not eat, but my cat will.

I really like this game and the dark and gloomy atmosphere is cultivates. If you like "paper's, please" you will like this game. It takes a lot of the mechanics of papers please but puts a nice spin on it. The story is really well written and tugs at the heart strings! (Especially the cat). The UI is easy and not cluttered which is a very good thing when it comes to games like this. The art style is very interesting and unique and not in the bad way! It is really something I have never seen before and really liked. However, I do have some qualms: The character's names. This is obviously supposed to be set in a U.S.S.R Soviet inspired country, but the names are all over the place. Some have Japanese names, others have Chinese names, or Vietnamese, Russian, English, middle-eastern, or east European etc. This kind of breaks me out of the immersion of the game. If there were some lore explaining why all these people of different nationalities are together, I would be so in. It is also set in the 80's, but it feels more like the dystopian 2000's. The character we play as has a mother, and we have to send her money to ensure survival of her and our sister in this very unsafe country, but one day she just visits you at the bank. This also broke immersion as I was under the impression that she was far away in the countryside, but she has the means to visit us and give us a sandwich. It made me no longer want to send money to her because she is close enough to us to just come fetch money or she has enough money to travel. The dialogue is also extremely repetitive and stiff at times. Despite playing for less than 2 hours at the time of this review I used the dialogue option "Thank God..." like 7 times. It irked me, but really not too bad. The dialogue elsewhere like in the cutscenes are really good. There are also some glitches (to be expected as this game is very new) in the home of the character. The books/box on the window sill kept multiplying unless I quit the game and reentered it. The box and a black book kept being duplicated when I touched it, but this did not really bother me. Also in day 18, there is this shoot out between the teller and criminals but the mechanics are clunky and it goes on for WAY too long. The bullets just refuse to hit the kneeling guys for some reason. It also glitched out twice, making me loose all progress. I had to replay this part several times just to get past. Most annoying part of the entire game. Another complaint is the surface area on which you manually count the money. It is too small for the thousands of notes you get and have to check. This definitely requires a bit of reworking. Perhaps having 200 notes would solve this issue slightly. All in all, this is the banker's version of "Papers, please" and it spins it off brilliantly. Really fun and story wise intoxicating. There are immersion problems (more of a personal issue really), but that can easily be looked over.

Loving it so far. One thing that needs fixing is a language selection when you open the game. I installed, opened and found everything in another language. Took some exploratory clicking to find where to change it to english. Other than that, its like papers please and the controls are nice to understand and theres good keyboard shortcuts to make it smoother to process the slips. Also, you can adopt a kitty and pat the kitty. Very awesome
