Really cute & fun game I wish the game had an option for more than one save file, so it would be easier to go back to older saves to get achievements without completely restarting Paid: $1.58 Play time: 12 hours ~13 cents per hour of play time (Though I played a bit more than I wanted as I had to replay 3 times for missed achievements)
The game is short and sweet and I really enjoyed my time with it and its 90s aesthetic and style. It really reminded me of the cartoons of that era, especially the unconventional and colorful character design. The pickpocket mechanics, conning quests and the notebook to keep track of it were addictive, the funny dialogue with the laugh tracks really made me feel like I was playing an episode of a 90s animated show. Sadly the bugs really put a damper on my enjoyment, I lost over 3 hours of progress and had an achievement bug out on me despite doing the requirements, even though I found a way to quickly skip cutscene it still took a lot of effort to regain my progress on both the story and the collectibles/side quests. Even after that, I didn’t get anything game breaking but a lot of quests remained unresolved in my notebook because I did things in a different order than the devs intended. Overall do get it if you want a quick, fun game.
The Big Con is such a fun little ride. It has this bright, playful energy from the start and just keeps it going the whole way through. The colours and visuals were honestly one of my favourite parts. Everything feels so vibrant and full of personality, and the stylised art gives it a really unique look. I loved just wandering around and finding things. There’s always something to interact with or mess around with, which makes the world feel really alive. It’s the kind of game where you end up getting distracted in the best way. The storyline is light but really enjoyable, and it fits the tone perfectly. It never takes itself too seriously, which works so well with the whole con artist vibe. The 90s theme really adds to it as well, with that nostalgic, slightly chaotic energy running through everything. Overall, it’s just a genuinely fun experience. It doesn’t try to be anything too heavy, it just leans into its charm, its retro feel, and its personality, and it does it really well. Definitely one I had a great time with.
