Man what a cool game. Obviously heavily inspired by Portal but instead w/ time being the main driver. I bought this and sat on it for quite some time & I wish I played it sooner. Highly recommended.

The Entropy Centre is a very good game. It is very similar to titles like Portal and The Talos Principle (especially the latter, in my opinion, including its environments and soundtrack), though it still stands out with its own distinctive features. The time reversal mechanic for objects is particularly interesting and very well implemented. The only things that frustrated me were: - The time limit for rewinding objects can be a bit of a hassle. Although it encourages you to move items more efficiently, it is not always clear while manipulating them whether the time limit will run out until it actually happens. Resetting the rewind timer by clearing an item helps, since it allows you to see if it will exceed the limit as you move it. - Some sections require more platforming and precision skills than actual puzzle solving, such as puzzle 1404. - There were a few bugs where objects disappeared. This was especially frustrating in puzzle 1405, where the large box fell near the base of the elevator, clipped through the ground, and vanished. This happened to me twice, and I had to restart the stage, going back to the previous room since there was no checkpoint in between. - The lack of checkpoints in certain areas forces you to replay large sections, which becomes even more frustrating when bugs occur and forces me to do everything again (like explained in my previous point). This was particularly annoying in the first puzzle involving conveyor belts, where you need to rewind them from the second room. It took me a long time and many attempts to finish the first room, only to realize later that I could have rewound the conveyors. The game had not yet explained that mechanic. A short introductory puzzle requiring conveyor rewinding before that long one would have helped me discover it sooner and saved a lot of time. That said, I greatly enjoyed the game overall. I completed all puzzles without looking up any solutions online, although in 2 of them I might have used unintended methods (1404 being one of them). The puzzles were creative, the ending was satisfying (although not extraordinary), and the story was engaging. The atmosphere was excellent, conveying a strong sense of mystery and desolation. I highly recommend this game, especially if you enjoy puzzle experiences similar to Portal or The Talos Principle. I give it 9.2/10.

If you like Portal then you'll like The Entropy Centre. The story is interesting, there are plenty of puzzles to go at and generally the balance between puzzles and narrative / story events is well balanced. The positives: The puzzle progression is really good, slowly ramping up the challenge with the introduction of new puzzle elements which should be very familiar if you've played Portal 1 + 2 before. The story is interesting, the majority of it being told through text / diary entries and make for an interesting setting The negatives: Once you learn the secret to the puzzles (think backwards) then some of the puzzles start to feel like a roadblock to waste your time rather than provide a challenge, this is especially noticeable in the later acts where a couple of acts will go by with very little happening narrative-wise. Additionally, it felt like the narrative just fizzles out with no satisfying conclusion, I understand this fits the theme of the game but I still found it underwhelming. Overall a interesting puzzle game that is worth you time at full price (Definitely pick this up in the Steam sale!!)

It's easy to play The Entropy Centre and just dismiss it as a heavily inspired by Portal (and The Talos Principle) puzzle game and nothing more, but that would just do an enormous injustice towards the developers of this game... or should I say to the developer, because this is actually a solo project and I feel it needs to be said when speaking about it. Scenario, music and the puzzle concept of this game are all very solid. I was particularly surprised by the story, which has also a very satisfying ending. I believe the elephant in the room which needs to be talked about is the quality of the puzzles, which differentiates itself from the concept. Being able to rewind items back to a previous state has an infinite window of possibilities puzzle-design speaking, but unfortunately it feels like it doesn't manage to truly evolve throughout the game and ends with a lot of untapped potential. From a difficulty standpoint it only manages to be challenging towards the very end with 4 or maybe 5 somewhat intricate puzzles. If you like to be really pushed to the limit by a puzzle game maybe this isn't exactly for you. If instead you'd like to play a puzzle game with a lighter challenge while enjoying an intriguing scenario this might just be it.
