The Karaoke is arguably the Chilla's Art game that strikes the deepest chord of all the ones I have played. It is such a simple premise and game, but it really illustrates just how close we walk the line between mundane reality and horror each day. Mechanically, it is a bit rough in some respects. Some of the endings and achievements are difficult to say the least and it is a bit mind boggling how passive the allowed actions keep the protagonist, but all of that can be overlooked or explained away. More stories impactful like this, please.

I give "The Karaoke" a 2.5/5. I'm kind of neutral about this one? I think the atmosphere and characters were creepy and the karaoke mini game was pretty cool but the main character you play as seems like she doesn't really care about anything. You're character is waiting for her friend to arrive the at karaoke place for a good amount of time but she just sings a couple more songs and gets food and drinks for herself and doesn't call the police until the last minute.... but yeah just kind of broke the immersion for me, i don't see myself trying to get the other 5 endings.

After my first playthrough I was really thinking about giving this game a negative review. Only time I ever disliked a game from Chilla's Art was Okaeri for its shortness. Same problem I had with The Karaoke. The game itself had great atmosphere and the story was interesting (and sad), but it just felt like it was missing so much. No collectibles, a very annoying singing game, an unnerving endíng... but when you take your time and use the little hints after the first playthrough to see all the different options this game has to offer, it actually becomes amazing. As good if not better than most of their others. A few things annoyed me though. Why was the girl so cold and ignored her poor friend when she was calling for help? Also the friend wasn't dead so the supernatural part (which obviously was just a dream) was weird. Everything else made this a good game. I just wish young people would play this and not walk around outside alone like this while paying more attention. It should raise awareness. People are too careless these days. And btw, I gave up trying to be a karaoke master. I had a 99% score so often and only got 1-2 good notes that it became too frustrating to get 100% in this game. Maybe another time. :(

As always, Chilla's Art is good at creating creepy atmosphere without putting screamers behind every corner. Karaoke is definetely not the sceariest game by Chilla's Art. It's more pointing out social problem and real life horrors through the scary game. Nevertheless, this game is worth its' price.
