LEGO Movie 2 Review: 5/10 Story: Honestly, the story is incredibly confusing. You literally defeat the main villain off screen, which is just bizarre. I ended up watching YouTube videos throughout my entire playthrough. Shoutout to Big Wedge Golf for the entertainment. 100% Completion: This is one of the easiest LEGO games to 100%. Once you unlock the jetpack, getting all those hard to reach bricks becomes ridiculously easy. If you’re looking for a quick and relatively painless completion, this game is perfect for that. Syspocalypstar: This is the world where you have to build a bunch of structures is easily the most frustrating part. Using the Super Builder Hat makes things easier, but building all these stupid houses is still tedious. Also, if you’re stuck at 39/40 on that world, the missing item is in the shop! Overall, this is a pretty mid LEGO game. The story is confusing, and some of the building gets annoying, but the easy 100% is a nice bonus. If you want a quick, mindless LEGO game to complete, this is the one for you. 5/10
Recommended, but not extremely positive. One of the weaker ones for sure. Oooowwhh man, not too shabby I must say. On my big quest of 100%'ing (prob) all LEGO Games, this was the 2nd one where I got it. Now big question, does it beat The Lego Movie Game? No. It doesn't, and after having 100%'ed the game with 19 hours of playtime, I was maybe a tiny bit disappointed, but I still enjoyed my time playing it. IN MY OPINION, it feels a bit slower than the first game and it feels less like a game about the movie, but more like a standalone game with inspirations from the movie. Which isn't bad at all, I think it being so different from part 1 made it cool, but me personally, I would've liked some more levels with more similairities to the movie. Couple things I did like tho were the graphics, they were much better. The new hub worlds were cooler and way bigger, they took inspirations from the movie but weren't just an exact copy, also them turning the cutscenes into newly animated scenes instead of cutting the actual movie in to pieces was fun. I liked the whole master bricks system, although some were a bit too easy. Now, a couple last cons, I wasn't a fan of the way they did the abilities, I really liked the whole aspect of needing to complete the game and unlock certain characters, instead of just items. Vehicles are quite slow. Loads of somewhat annoying animations. The camera is definitely not great. I would recommend it to all Lego fans, but yeah, it's subjective anyways. 🤷♂️
I will say, no lego game deserves less than a B tier. And this is no exception. although the reviews are mixed, and this is one of the weaker lego games I have played, I had a blast either way. short enough to 100% all achievements in less than 10 hours. I didn't like lego worlds, but I did enjoy this game. I don't know what else to say. I can recommend this game to any lego fan out there.
