I originally played The Letter on Switch, but after replaying it on Steam, I can confidently say that PC is the much better experience. The game looks absolutely gorgeous, especially the huge variety of backgrounds (many of which are even animated) and the overall production quality is genuinely impressive. The voice acting is also fantastic. I normally don’t particularly like English-voiced visual novels, but the cast here really won me over :) My favourite part, though, has to be the achievements. There are so many branches and different outcomes that you genuinely have to work for 100%. I’ve already filled over ten pages of notes trying to keep track of which routes and choices I need to replay to unlock everything. I’ve 100%ed everything up to Chapter 6 so far, whilst Ashton is around 75%, and the final two chapters are proving to be an absolute nightmare. I love that the game actually rewards you for properly exploring its branching story rather than just playing through it once. The horror is also handled pretty well. I’d personally describe The Letter as more of a mystery/thriller with horror elements than a straight-up horror game. The atmosphere and setting do most of the heavy lifting, although the jumpscares are surprisingly effective and some of the gore genuinely made me squirm. Hearing that woman’s creepy noises before actually seeing her is probably the most unsettling part for me lol I also really liked the characters. Considering you only spend about a week with them, I thought the cast was surprisingly fleshed out, and I loved how different each character feels and how many directions their individual stories can take. Marianne was probably the weakest for me, although that’s largely because her chapter is so short. I actually loved her backstory (probably my favourite) and wish she’d had a much bigger impact on the overall story and ending. My biggest issue is the ending. If you only play through the game once, it is incredibly short and leaves you sitting there thinking, …that’s it? Very little gets properly explained. Once you start unlocking the other endings and eventually work towards the true ending, it becomes much more satisfying, but I still wish the conclusion itself had been longer and given certain storylines more room to breathe. I’d say this is absolutely worth the money if you’re an achievement hunter like me. Otherwise, I’d probably recommend picking it up on sale, as you can get through the main story in under ten hours without exploring all the different routes :) Overall, a gorgeous, surprisingly intricate visual novel with a great cast!

This game is absolutely phenomenal. From the artwork, to the storyline, full voice acting, and the jumpscares. You can tell a lot of love was put into this game and how every choice was planned out to lead the player down certain routes/endings. I really appreciate how each choice has a consequence whether big or small that can influence other characters' routes. It's really interesting to be able to experiment with that and see each of the characters' deaths, good or bad endings and everything between. Even after playing through this game MULTIPLE times there's still lots of content to be had with finding new dialogue and achievements. I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone interested in a captivating story about a silly, little haunted piece of paper and all of Isabella's friends that get dragged into this.

just finished game and well here is my honest review ; 10/10 Arts : the background arts, CGIs , everything is beautiful, its not a cheap drawing you would see in other games. 10/10 Musics & SFX : its not only empty "text" messages, there is SFX sounds here and there that makes the atmosphere more realistic, plus amazing soundtracks that adds up to it, be it horror, sorrow or just calm. 10/10 Voice acting : it fits the characters and also its amazing, voice actors did a great job on this, anger or sorrow or fear, you can feel it from the voices and its so real, not some emotionless voice acting in other games. 10/10 characters : all characters are lovely (especially becca), different personalities they have really brightens up the atmosphere of the game. 10/10 Story : every decision you make, even the tiniest one, has impact on the story, its not like one or two decision matters then the rest are for decorations, all of it matters. plus the story itself is amazing, there is a fine balance between horror, humor and sorrow, you get jumpscares, laughs, and crying (trust me cuz i got them all) plus people, don't complain about the endings, you do realize there are multiple endings not only one? i do agree i prefer the good ending where everyone lives MUCH MORE than.. true ending itself. 10/10 achievements : one of the good things about this game is the achievements, it gives you a purpose that makes you want to start from scratch and try different decisions. there is a problem with the game btw, which was fine for me but it might not be for some people, its that there is alot of dialogues, well, alot of "character thinking" dialogues, but again as the developers said "over 700K words. Expect a lot of reading!" so yeah, if you are that kind of person who is always like "i don't have time for this" "i don't have time for that" well this game's not for you, its meant to be played with patience, sure "some" of the "character thinking" dialogues are unnecessary and useless but most of it is important, it gives details about the surroundings and also about the characters past or their life and etc so its best to read them all. TL;DR i really recommend this game, it DOES worth it price with the amount of content honestly, but again if you want to buy it on a sale or not is up to you.
