I went into this game not knowing about Westworld and what it’s about and after finishing the game a few times I say it’s an alright game. The puzzles, mechanics, and the horror side of things are the same rinse and repeat experience throughout the whole game except for a small handful which will be chapter specific. It’s a story driven experience so the game is very linear and the interactivity is limited. The graphics and the visuals are really good for a VR game! Overall I had a good time playing Westwood Awakening, it only has five chapters you can finish this in a few hours if you’re only going to focus on finishing the game without collecting any secrets and such. Since this is based on the show during season two this game is its own standalone story with its own characters and plot so you won’t be missing out or confused about anything if you haven’t seen the show except a couple of times where the dialogue references events that took place in season one and one of the achievements as well. If you’re looking for story focus games and/or you like Westworld I say it’s worth it. It still holds up today

Westworld Awakening, developed by Survios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and HBO, is a gripping virtual reality experience that immerses players in the morally complex and unsettling world of the acclaimed television series. Instead of casting you as a park guest or a bystander, the game puts you in the role of a self-aware Host named Kate who gains consciousness amidst the chaos of the Westworld park’s collapse. The setting shifts from the familiar sunbaked vistas of the park to the dark and sterile underbelly of the Delos laboratories, creating an experience that straddles science fiction and psychological horror. From its first moments, the game captures the eerie blend of humanity and machinery that defines the series, inviting players into an introspective and frightening journey of survival and self-discovery. At its core, Westworld Awakening is a narrative-driven thriller that uses the immersive qualities of virtual reality to great effect. Every room and corridor carries a heavy sense of atmosphere, rendered in striking detail. The game’s visuals are some of the most polished in VR, from the flickering lab lights reflecting on polished glass to the faint mechanical hums that echo through Delos’s underground levels. The level design enhances tension through claustrophobic environments, forcing players to physically crouch behind desks, peek around corners, and scramble through ventilation shafts to evade their pursuers. The result is a powerful sense of presence that traditional screens could never replicate. This world feels tangible, as though you’re trapped within it rather than merely observing it, and the combination of realism, scale, and motion-capture performance gives the experience a cinematic weight that few VR titles manage to achieve. The gameplay blends stealth, environmental interaction, and puzzle-solving, wrapped in a constant sense of vulnerability. As Kate, you are being hunted by a relentless Host named Hank, an unstoppable figure who stalks you through the facility. The inability to fight back reinforces a feeling of dread and helplessness—you must rely on cunning and quick thinking to survive. Your tools are limited to manipulating the environment and using a Delos tablet interface to hack into systems, activate other Hosts, or open pathways that allow you to stay one step ahead of danger. Each puzzle feels integrated into the world rather than arbitrarily placed; every keypad, scanner, and computer terminal contributes to a believable illusion of navigating a living, breathing system. The stealth sequences, meanwhile, balance tension and strategy, demanding careful observation of patrol patterns and creative use of cover. When it all comes together, the game becomes an intense dance between survival instinct and calculated problem-solving. One of the most compelling aspects of Westworld Awakening lies in its storytelling and atmosphere. While the plot is more self-contained than the sprawling narrative of the HBO series, it still captures the show’s central themes of consciousness, control, and rebellion. As Kate struggles to understand her reality and the boundaries of her programming, the player is drawn into the same existential confusion that defines Westworld’s most memorable characters. The story is told through environmental clues, dialogue, and the occasional chilling encounter, rather than through heavy exposition, letting players piece together the truth for themselves. The writing respects the intelligence of the player, balancing moments of emotional vulnerability with sequences of high tension. The performances—particularly the voice acting—add depth to the characters, and the haunting soundtrack reinforces the sense of isolation and awe that permeates the game’s world. Despite its strengths, Westworld Awakening is not without its limitations. The experience is relatively short, running roughly three to five hours depending on exploration, and players who expect a lengthy campaign may find its runtime disappointing. The pacing, though deliberate, leaves little room for open-ended exploration, and some of the stealth mechanics can feel inconsistent in how enemy AI detects the player. These minor frustrations, however, do little to diminish the game’s overall impact. The technical execution is strong across the board, with responsive controls, comfort options for different play styles, and a smooth frame rate that minimizes the motion sickness often associated with VR games. The short length ultimately works in the game’s favor, ensuring that the narrative remains focused and impactful without overstaying its welcome. As an adaptation, the game succeeds in capturing the essence of Westworld’s universe. It doesn’t attempt to retell the story of the television series but instead expands it through a new perspective that complements the show’s mythology. Fans will recognize familiar details—the architecture of Delos’s labs, the oppressive surveillance systems, and the thematic tension between creator and creation—while newcomers can still enjoy it as a self-contained science fiction thriller. The philosophical undertones of identity and autonomy run deep through every scene, giving weight to your actions and choices even in the absence of branching paths. It’s less about changing the world and more about surviving it, understanding it, and reclaiming agency in a world built on illusion. Westworld Awakening stands as one of the most impressive narrative-driven VR experiences to date. Its combination of visual fidelity, psychological depth, and environmental storytelling elevates it above many other licensed games. While its short length and modest scope may leave some wanting more, the quality of its craftsmanship and the strength of its immersion make it a memorable and worthwhile journey. It captures the essence of what makes Westworld compelling—a meditation on what it means to be human in a world where even consciousness can be manufactured—and transforms it into an experience that can only exist in virtual reality. For players seeking a mature, atmospheric adventure that blends science fiction with introspective horror, Westworld Awakening delivers an unforgettable exploration of the thin line between machine and soul. Get it on sale. I wouldn't play unless you've at least watched the first season of the show.

I heard people saying this game was a "amazing tribute to the series", and although I had my doubts, it turned out way better than I expected. The game tends to focus less on stealth and challenging content, and more on it's narrative and putting the player in the atmosphere of the original series. I think it's a great choice because for how short the game was (3 hours), focusing on storyline still managed to create a great full length story with a few plot twists and great ideas. The way the whole story was laid out as well felt so professional, even the minute details being so well done, like the people in Delos talking about changing the killers weapon to something different, more slasher like. Then next scene you see the killer, they are using that weapon. Even later on, you see a concept paper of all the different kinds of weapons they were planning on using next. The whole thing felt so cinematic, like a genuine exact movie script just adapted into a VR game without any changes. Overall, a pretty okay game when it comes to challenging puzzles or stealth, but an absolutely killer narrative. Would Recommend.

Seems cool for those who are fans of the series, but after spending some time the premise of the entire game seems like the whole time its cat and mouse. Kinda lame if you ask me. Was hoping for more! I could be wrong, maybe further into the game it changes but 1.4h in and that's all I've done.
