So overhated, really good game, good gameplay and alright story. Its short but sweet nothing seems to be overstretched. Let down poorly by the villians IMO. Id pick it up on sale for sure

Verdict 👍 Recommended (only if you get it for under 5€) I finished Far Cry New Dawn in 8.5 hours and it honestly feels like nothing more than an epilogue — basically a story DLC for Far Cry 5. It follows the events after FC5, sure… but it doesn’t offer what Far Cry 5 did. The story isn’t engaging, the finale is way too straightforward and lacks any intelligence, and the last fight felt like I was playing some weird Far Cry 4 “Yeti DLC” again. From a narrative perspective, the whole thing comes off like it was made by fan modders rather than a proper mainline entry. I bought it on sale for under 5€, and that’s the only price point where I can recommend it. Anything more makes no sense. What annoyed me the most was the grinding: upgrading homebase stations, leveling gear, weapons locked behind levels, and then still having to farm crafting resources on top of that. It’s just busywork. Flying also isn’t available here, the map is small, and even the road infrastructure feels weak — like the world isn’t built for fun movement the way other Far Cry games are. Overall it’s a 6/10. For me it’s better than Far Cry 2, but it doesn’t even come close to the other entries. Maybe Far Cry Primal is slightly better than New Dawn too. I only recommend it if you want to see what happened after Far Cry 5’s ending — and I’m definitely not playing this again. My history with the game [*] Played it as a follow-up to Far Cry 5 [*] Finished the full game in 8.5 hours [*] Bought it for under 5€ on sale [*] One-and-done, no replay Quick signals 💸 Value: ☑Only worth it under 5€ 🖥️ Requirements: ☑Minimum 🎨 Graphics: ☑Decent ⏱️ Length: ☑5-15 📖 Story: ☑Weak / ☑Feels like DLC 🎮 Difficulty: ☑Easy 🐛 Bugs: ☑No major issues What I liked [*] It works as an epilogue if you really want closure after Far Cry 5. [*] Short length — you can finish it quickly. [*] At least it continues the FC5 aftermath. What didn’t work for me [*] Feels like a story DLC, not a real Far Cry game. [*] Story isn’t engaging and the finale is too dumb and direct. [*] Final fight felt like recycled “Yeti DLC” energy. [*] Grinding homebase upgrades and stations is annoying. [*] Weapons locked behind levels + farming crafting materials = unnecessary grind. [*] No flying, small map, and poor road infrastructure. [*] Overall vibe: “fan-made mod” quality writing. Who will love it [*] Players who only care about seeing what happens after Far Cry 5’s ending. [*] People who enjoy grind-based progression and upgrading hubs. [*] Completionists who want to clear every Far Cry title. Replay value [*] Low. I’m done after one playthrough.

story was dumb and the characters were annoying af, but the gameplay made me forget about it most of the time.

Far Cry New Dawn is easily the most different Far Cry game in the series, and that’s honestly why I loved it. The RPG-style systems, perks, tiers, and straight up superpowers completely shake up the usual formula, and the post apocalyptic Hope County is such a cool, colorful contrast to Far Cry 5’s tone. I genuinely enjoyed the new progression systems, the Expeditions, and pretty much all the weapons, from janky scrap guns to endgame monster builds, plus the characters were memorable in the best Far Cry way. While the story definitely doesn’t hit as hard as some of the other modern Far Cry games, it’s still a must play if you enjoyed 5 and wanted more from that world. I’d have 100% completed it too, but one co op achievement stands between me and perfection, proudly proving I have no friends, by choice, obviously!

Far Cry New Dawn does not bring many new things, but it is hard to deny its charm. The colorful world after the apocalypse looks great, and exploring it is a lot of fun. The story is fine but not very exciting. The Twins as main villains are an interesting idea, but they do not have the same charisma as characters from the previous game. The plot is simple and without big surprises, but the good mission design and fast pace make it enjoyable. It feels more like an expansion than a full sequel, but that is not a bad thing. The world is full of details, colors, and places to discover, which makes it feel light even with its post-apocalyptic tone. The game is quite short and compact, but that actually works well here. It never gets boring, and with its action and beautiful world, it gives a lot of fun. New Dawn may not surprise, but as a colorful and lighter adventure, it works really well.
