TLDR: Tower dominion is a very solid tower defense game with roguelike elements. It's one of the best games in the tower defense genre, I highly recommend it. Some of your losses will feel really unfair, so you have to be able to handle that. I have had zero crashes and performance is good on mid-range or higher hardware, details at the end. # UI Overall the UI never gets in your way and works well. I have some nitpicks, but none of them really take away from the game. * the game always sets the difficulty to frontier, even if you never play that difficulty * mouse wheel scrolls too fast in codex and skips the only real important part (buildings) * viewing the characteristics of a building from anywhere it matters takes way too many clicks # gameplay The game is run based and with experience you can complete a successful run in 20-30 mins. Upgrades work based on a an RNG card based system, so you have to adapt to the choices the game gives you. It is very similar to rogue tower, I will give a comparison later. # RNG Most negative reviews on this game complain about balance and RNG. I originally felt that it is all RNG based, but after playing it more I feel like I just needed to learn. The game has plenty of depth and there is some stuff you have to learn that's not obvious. I do think the game has balance issues most importantly the red faction being way harder to play than the others. The game gives you plenty of tools to win reliably with the other two factions on difficulty IV. You can make the game as hard as you want in frontier mode, which is basically a challenge mode. So if your ego can't handle losing and your ego requires you to play at the highest difficulty, maybe this game is not for you. # balance One major balance issue that is totally legit and should be fixed is how the game spawns enemies. The game argues that enemies are equally distributed over all entry points. What this means is that they are equally distrubuted numerically. So all the most powerful enemies might spawn right next to your base and the rest everywhere else. The path the enemies walk is distributed over the number of branches the path has. So you can split them up by having branching paths with loops in them. Most of them seem to choose the same path though and which path they choose changes per wave. So depending on RNG all the tanks might take the long way, or they might head straight for the base. This is a poor implementation. # unlocks / achievements The achievements for this game are uninspired and easy to get. Unlocking the doctrines in the codex is a total pain though and the how is not clearly communicated. It doesn't really matter much, since the harder it is to unlock the less valuable it is in a run. Some expertise doctrines require such tight RNG to get that they are basically worthless (except for endless). # performance I tested the game on my i7-12650H / nvidia 3050 laptop gpu and it runs, but suffers serious fps dips (less than 10) at various points. My AMD 7600 Ryzen 5 / AMD RX 7800 XT runs the game perfectly fluid. It rarely drops under 60 fps and is usually above 120 fps. In endless mode the performance tanks and in a way that suggest an optimization issue. The framerate tanks even when idle between waves and the game should be doing almost nothing. compared to rogue tower + looks better + far better UI + speed controls, yay! + better balanced than rogue tower IMO + you get to pick which sections to use to upgrade the path - no tower priorities; lack of control on tower targetting - rogue tower runs better on low end hardware. - rogue tower doesn't have massive frame rate dips in endless mode Overall I would recommend choosing this game over rogue tower if your hardware is up to snuf.

Surprisingly good tower defense roguelike with a lot of replayability and depth. I would reccomend to any fans of the genre. Will update after testing on Steamdeck. edit: Mostly good on Steamdeck. I changed the map movement controls because the default kept bugging out. Havent had any problems after playing 4 rounds on Deck.

This game had no right to go this hard. I don’t even like tower defense games. Never have. But something about this one caught my eye—played the demo on a whim, and boom, hooked faster than a goblin on a spike trap. It’s a fantastic roguelite tower defense that just gets it. No bloated tutorials, no 20-minute cutscenes about ancient tower lore, no nonsense. You jump in, you get it, you play it, and you have a good time. That’s it. The controls are slick, the UI is clean, and the art style? Chef’s kiss. Minimalist, but polished like a shiny new game disc from 2007. There’s real magic here—everything feels tight, deliberate, and just plain fun. You try weird combos, you fail, you try again, and somehow every run feels like a good time. And if you do fail? You didn’t just waste your whole evening. You learned, you laughed, you probably unlocked something new anyway. No bugs. No always-online. No microtransactions. No battle pass with 87 tiers of tower skins. Just a proper game, made by people who knew exactly what they wanted to make—and absolutely nailed it. Seriously, download the demo. It's tiny. You’ll be building towers and plotting world domination in five minutes flat.

Really solid and charming tower defence game. Like Rogue Tower but way more polished and fleshed out, with a lot of variation between factions, commanders, buildings and doctrines. I spent a huge amount of time on the demo, and the full game is even more expansive and fun than I'd hoped with a lot of different replayability. If you're on the fence, try the demo and you'll likely end up wanting more. A lot more. It is currently tickling a part of my brain that no other tower defence has in a long time, or at all. Shoutout to the devs for their communication and openness in their discord, and to Angory Tom on youtube for introducing me to it!
