This game scratches a very specific itch I have had for a while where I have been looking for a colony sim type game that is a bit more relaxed in nature, with more focus on the sandbox building element rather than resource management and survival. I am not a fan of Voxel games usually, but this game still manages to be quite pretty in spite of that. I'd throw money at a game like this that isn't voxel based.
Honestly a pretty big portion of this recommend is just me being genuinely impressed at the pace of development the devs had here. They went from Early Access to full release in just over a year. They hit roadmap goals at a steady pace, polished the game up, and had it out the door. That's unheard of in the modern era. There's games right now that have been in early access for 5-10 years, or even longer. The developers are obviously both very passionate and very skilled. The game itself is great fun. There's a clear focus on decorating your city but that doesn't mean its entirely without depth or strategy like other "cozy" games typically are. You still have meaningful choices to make and things to consider. Obviously from looking at the store page you don't need me to tell you how gorgeous the game is, and the music is pleasant as well. I'm not sure if I can think of anything in particular to complain about. It's just a damn good video game and an excellent city builder.
i like it cuz i can just decorate as much as i want and i kinda dont have to think abt my economy at all.... i just place nice tree and then another and then another and then another- i wish it would show the townies work tho like they already have a bunch of cute animations with all the decor and chairs. but i wanna see em farm and deliver stuff to the warehouses and stuff! but hopefully it'll be added in a future update! (ALSO would love it if there was seasons in the game instead of just seasonal decor items.) otherwise rly good game if u LOVE decorating.
You build a town and its going great and then you open your economics tab and realize you have too much of every resource being produced except cheese. You have a 1000 demand to supply cheese deficit. They won't stop eating cheese. The whole market district is cheese. 10/10 no notes
