These three games are definitely a labor of love by the Goblinz team. I played the first two, at least ten years ago. The third game finally came out after a very long time. The notes in the bonus material explain why. Apparently the project was hijacked by a HOPA expert who wanted the cookie cutter HOG machinery with which seasoned HOG players are so disgusted with these days. I am so happy the team rescued the project and redid it to match their vision. With so few HOG devs. who actually care about art and story telling, creativity, and intelligence, I really, really hope that Goblinz will produce more games. The story spanning the three games was surprising and complex. There is a very good reason that game one had a story that was akin to a B grade horror film. That, itself if a plot point. Pretty genius!

A bit longer than your usual point and click hidden object. Nice to round out the series. Puzzles were good for what they were.

This review will not be sappiness or spoiler free, so beware! Oh man. What can I say. The first game of this series came out when I was in high school and was also probably one of the first games I've ever bought after years of free flash games, and now I got to play the ending as I'm finishing med school! From the start, I fell in love with the immersive storyline this series brought, along with creative puzzles and lack of predatory tactics "free" similar games offered. Thus, I had high hopes for the final installment. And it did not disappoint! But I have to admit. I did underestimate the writing the team was capable of. Due to the many other similar games I've played, I am used to giving a HUGE deal of suspension of belief to the plot. So, when I saw the out-of-place architecture and technology for the time period, Holly's inconsistent memories, the plotline of going back to the day of the massacre simply disappearing, their grandparents failing to see a whole child living horriblily in the upper floor of their own house, and almost childish dialogue (yeah, this is about the cactus) I just accepted it and moved on. I even let go of my suspicions towards their mother! I did not like her at the first game after seeing the conditions Dahlia was kept. But with how much she was idolized later on, I made the mistake of glossing it over. Honestly, my only hopes were an ending (I've seen many wonderful projects get abandoned) and that the storyline would not simply go to the route "join the dubious entity and lose yourself in the path for revenge". I mean, my girl Heather is looking like a discarded caprisun, do we really want to believe Dahlia? So naturally, the actual plot blew me out of the water. There wasn't a single loose end. Not even the nightgown was an random choice!!!! Just like Holly, at the start I rejected it. How could be their mother's fault? But it made progressively more and more sense. Dahlia had a point: it was easier to concoction a huge world where they were gods, than to accept the banality of the tragedy their lives were. And it's interesting the way Dahlia idolized their mother so much, but still saw herself in that horrible jail-playroom in what should've been their dream house. The ones who I've accepted as villains were just normal people, trying to do their best with was achievable for them. They've grown on me to the point I really wanted to see how they were doing. Did the doctor actually lost his license, or was that one of Dahlias dramatizations? How Olivia is doing? Did Jessica actually die during the sister's coma, her altar in the imaginary hospital a mirror to the real one? Are the elderly characters, like Laudius and their grandparents, still alive? How about Jack, was his relationship with them truly so shallow? Above all: how will the sisters build their lives after so many years drifting? However, being true to its more realistic approach, the game does not give a clean cut ending to what happened to any of them. We say goodbye and hope life will treat them fairly, or that they'll be strong enough to live through it anyway. Thank you Goblinz and Digital Lounge for this wonderful story. This was an absolute awesome game to play, and I am so thankful to see it fully complected. All of your efforts during more than a decade gave such a beautiful fruit!!

This game is an innovation on the genre! Any fan of hidden object games, or puzzle games in general, absolutely must play this game. The puzzles weren't just difficult, but incredibly creative. They're at a level of ingenuity I haven't seen since the glory days of Mystery Case Files. The story is beautiful and remarkably compelling. It ties a tidy bow on everything the trilogy built to. I got teary eyed at the end. If you love HOPAs, play the trilogy! You will not be disappointed.
