It's alright. Soundtrack is a bit on the weaker side...I liked some of the tunes but a lot sound kinda bleh. It doesn't help that the guitar sample they use in every song sounds really bad.. Stages have sort of bland level design where there aren't too many stage gimmicks and a lot of the layouts are pretty flat. Most notable stages here are the shmup stages. There's two of them, and while they aren't that difficult by shmup standards, they're the hardest thing in the game by far and will probably filter at least a few people. Like for reference, they're about as challenging as some of the secret boss content in DELTARUNE (Not that deltarune is particularly difficult... but the shmup stages in Udongein X took me a similar amount of tries). Bosses are kind of a mixed bag...there's maybe a 40/60 split between decent challenging fights and piss easy encounters. The characters are cool though, I'm personally not that familiar with most of the cast but fans that are more plugged in will probably enjoy the rep here. Unfortunately there aren't any special weapons or sub weapons. You collect little currencies from boss kills and as secrets in stages that you can spend in a shop menu for some upgrades. These upgrades are things like more HP/faster charge...but there are a few that give you new abilities that would be sorta analogous to what an armor upgrade in MMX would do. Regardless...it still feels a bit weird to be at the end of the game without any real visual or mechanical change to the character and how they fight. Well not that I know much about touhou, but I guess none of the characters really "grow" in the conventional sense like how X would? My friend makes it sound like everyone is just OP by default and the only thing happening is character's holding back instead of growing stronger. In any case I found myself wishing I at least got special weapons from defeating bosses. That being said, I enjoyed the gameplay and thought the shmup stages especially were great fun. For only 5 dollars I think it's totally worth it if you have a MMX itch and wanna play something for an afternoon or 2.

Touhou mixed with megaman X. No, you don't get the bosses powers, but you can buy upgrades at the shop. Finished on hard mode and played 100% on steam deck. I enjoyed it for what it is: a short and cool megaman x clone. (+) no problems while playing on steam deck. (+) Very reminiscent of megaman x gameplay, which is great (+) there are bullet hell stages! (+) a lot of challenges are unlocked after finishing the game on hard mode (+) not very easy but also not hard. (0) just like megaman, it's quite short but that's enough (-) I had some trouble getting the dash sometimes but I'm almost sure that's a me problem (-) no cloud saves on steam

Fun little jump&shoot. It's a bit barren compared to it's inspiration (Megaman X) with no robot masters powers and no findable upgrades in the stages - you just find currency for shop that lets you buy them, and since you never need an upgrade to reach another upgrade in a stage, there is little reason to replay the stages or plan optimal route. Other than that it's alright, all stages are interesting, each has a few unique enemies and hazards that fit the theme of the stage, controls are solid and responsive, the hitbox is a bit hard to judge at first but you can get used to it. Music is pretty great with various Touhou themes remixed to replicate Snes/Megaman X style which fits the game pretty well. Speaking of Touhou - the story will probably be rather hard to follow for those that are not into the franchise as characters or past events that influence the story are not explained, but it's not a big issue as it is relatively simple. The game is rather short but the additional challenges extend that playtime quite a bit if you are going for them. Probably more than a half of my 15 hours playtime was spend doing two hardest challenges in the game and while they were incredibly frustrating game was still fun enough to make me stick to it and complete them so that should tell you something. Overall - pretty good, hoping for a sequel.
